Today, I am sharing with you 35 nail colors from Japanese beauty brands/lines for summer 2023.
Quite a few brands released blue and purple nail colors this summer, and I am particularly drawn to some of the pastel ones and some of the ones with muted tones. The pastel ones look fresh and cooling, and the muted ones look understated and elegant.
Addiction and Ducato launched new ranges of nail colors this summer. Addiction released The Nail Polish + in April. It features 40 shades and there are many lovely colors (including some muted ones). Ducato released Nail Mine on July 3rd. At the moment, it is a small range with mostly quite vibrant shades.
Three brands included in this post (Söpö, To/one and D-Up) are featured on my blog for the first time. There are information and my thoughts on these brands at the end of the post.

Information and my thoughts on Söpö, To/one and D-Up (information from sopocosmetics.com, noin.tv, toonecosmetics.com, mashbeautylab.com, d-up.co.jp, tonedrop.jp & www.fashion-press.net):
Söpö was launched in Japan in November 2020. (“Söpö” is a Finnish word that means “cute”.) It is owned by Noin, Inc., which is a beauty, e-commerce and advertising company. (Noin also owns Abür, a haircare brand.) It is available from Family Mart stores in Japan and it currently carries base and point (color) makeup items. It launched Eye Palette in spring 2022, and I find all of the four variations released so far quite appealing.
To/one was launched in Japan in February 2018. It is owned by Mash Beauty Lab Co. Ltd., which also owns Celvoke and F Organics. (Mash Beauty Lab is part of Mash Group.) The brand name comes from the combination of “tone” and “to one” and reflects the brand’s concept of individuality. (The brand name in Japanese katakana is “トーン”, so I presume the pronunciation of the name is the same as that of the English word “tone”.) Currently, the brand carries base makeup, point makeup, skincare, bodycare and haircare items. (It also carries floral tea.) In Japan, it is available from Cosme Kitchen, Makeup Kitchen and Biople stores. (All of them are also owned by Mash Beauty Lab.) I like its style of product presentation, which often features frosted containers, soft colors and gentle curves. Among its makeup products, I particularly like Petal Float Eyeshadow (a range of eyeshadow duos). There are some classy muted hues as well as some vibrant shades.
D-Up is a drugstore beauty brand that mainly carries eyeliners, mascaras and nail items. (The company (D-Up Corp., established in Japan in 1992) also imports nail color brands such as OPI and Zoya. Tone Drop, launched in Japan in June 2022, is D-Up’s own line of nail colors.) The brand is perhaps particularly known for its trend-sensitive eyeliner and mascara shades. Even though I don’t usually wear eyeliners or mascaras, some of the recently released shades (mauve-y pink, dusty plum and pistachio green) look quite tempting.
