Anna Sui released its fall/winter 2020 fragrance collection in Japan on September 1st. The collection includes:
– Anna Sui Eau de Toilette (30ml, ¥5400)
The notes of this fragrance include:
- Top notes: bergamot, raspberry, apricot
- Middle notes: Bulgarian rose, waterlily, desert jasmine
- Base notes: cedarwood, sandalwood, powdery tonka
The name and the packaging of this fragrance seem identical to the brand’s debut fragrance released in 1999. Also, the notes of the two fragrances are very similar. (See more information on the 1999 release from Fragrantica.) However, this fragrance seems to be marketed as a new release (not a re-release).

If it’s actually a new fragrance I suppose it will smell like a generic mall brand perfume with lots of artificial smelling notes (Anna Sui perfume never smelled artisan but I have gotten several samples from their stores.. The all smelled like variations on bathroom freshener… Of course that happened to other American (I think Anna Sui perfume is made in USA) brands as well….
Hi Mina,
It’s great to hear from you again! :)
I hope that it smells decent at the very least. I really like the design of the bottle since it reminds me of the early days of Anna Sui’s beauty range (when the packaging was probably at its best). I might consider getting it mostly for nostalgic reasons……
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts again, and stay well!
certain anna sui perfumes i really really love. flight of fancy smells just like yuzu + lychee to me. La vie de boheme is AMAZING to me as well. like apples + rose jam, love… but I haven’t tried this one! I have read a lot of reviews. Personally, I have a BIG fan of the japanese drug store line Happy Bath Day by kose lol which is rose powder smelling so I think I might love this perfume… I have a hard time finding happy bath day stuff now so this might be perfect hehehe.
Hi Lucy,
I may have tested the original Anna Sui Eau de Toilette many years ago, and I will certainly test this one whenever I have a chance to. It could potentially be a nice rose-toned fragrance. Let’s hope we will like it! :)
