In 2017, I talked about Chifure and reviewed the brand’s Eye Color in 72 in my Stash Debut series. Today I will be sharing my thoughts on the brand’s Cheek Color in 171 Pink Pearl.
Chifure Cheek Color in 171 Pink Pearl (ちふれ チーク カラー 171 ピンクパール系/ Chifure 修容頰彩 171, ¥300) was released in Japan in spring 2015. (The Cheek Color range was launched in Japan much earlier (possibly in spring 2001).) It is a lightly-pigmented light-to-medium cool-toned antique rose pink with a shimmery finish. (“Pink” refers to the color, and “Pearl” refers to the finish.) The light-reflective particles are multi-hued, but the overall finish has a pronounced gold tone. It is easy to apply and blend, and it has a very good staying power.
As it is lightly pigmented, a bit of layering is needed for the color to show up. It goes on slightly warmer and very slightly more vibrant than it looks in the pan, but it still looks cool-toned and relatively low-key. The shimmery finish is on the intense side (by the time the product is layered sufficiently) and can slightly emphasize the appearance of pores.
The look this blusher creates is similar to a layered look with a pink blusher underneath a gold highlighter. It is intriguing that the low-key and elegant pink and a very light-reflective gold don’t clash with each other on me. I really like the cool tone and the softness of the blusher shade, and I also like the gold tone of the shimmery finish. Even though the shimmery finish doesn’t always look over-the-top on me, I do wish it were very slightly less light-reflective.
(Cheek Color was recently replaced by Powder Cheek, which was launched in Japan on March 1st.)
