Paul & Joe is celebrating its beauty line’s 15th anniversary this year, and its spring 2017 Les Petits Noms d’Amour makeup collection features three new Compacts and three new Lipstick Cases CS. I decided to add them to my collection.
Paul & Joe Compacts 013, 014 & 015 (ポール ＆ ジョー コンパクト 013, 014 & 015/ Paul & Joe 巧妝盒 013, 014 & 015, limited editions, cases only, ¥1000 each in Japan, £7 each in the UK) and Paul & Joe Lipstick Cases CS 037, 038 & 039 (ポール ＆ ジョー リップスティック ケース CS 037, 038 & 039/ Paul & Joe 唇膏盒 CS 037, 038 & 039, limited editions, cases only, ¥1000 each in Japan, £7 each in the UK) feature three prints. (Compacts accommodate refills of Eye Color Trio, Eyebrow Powder Duo, Powder Blush and Creamy Blush.)
Compact 013 and Lipstick Case CS 037:
They feature flowers in soft colors and branches against a striped background in white and gray. Paul & Joe excels at floral prints, and this is another great example.
The print is gentle and spring-like, and, with hints of red and green as well as the dark branches, it doesn’t look overly pale or pastel-y. This is Paul & Joe’s feature print for spring 2017.
Compact 014 and Lipstick Case CS 038:
They feature bird motifs against a sky-blue background. All the birds face the same direction, and I love the sense of drive, purpose and mission in this print.
I also like the shade of blue. It seems to represent a clear cloudless sky under the bright morning sun. For me, this is a poetic print with a positive vibe.
Compact 015 and Lipstick Case CS 039:
They feature orchid motifs and strips of blue and black. The print looks modern with the color strips, and the red accent gives the print a digital-art feel.
I also like the fact that some of the orchid motifs are not colored. The blank orchids provide breathing space for the print. The print didn’t catch my attention at first but it very quickly grew on me.
These three prints are based on those used for items from Paul & Joe’s and Paul & Joe Sister’s spring/summer 2017 fashion collections.

The three prints are very different from one another but they are all beautiful in their own ways. I like all of them and I don’t have a clear favorite. I’d say that I very slightly prefer the elegant spring-like floral print to the other two, but I do love the dynamism of the bird print as well as the bold and modern feel of the orchid print. If I only consider the new prints released in Paul & Joe’s seasonal makeup collections, this collection is certainly one of the best for me. (You can see all the previous prints here.)
