I got a sample of Jill Stuart‘s Everlasting Silk Powder Foundation Flawless Perfection a while ago and I have been testing it. I also got the case for the foundation (Powder Foundation Compact EP) and there are photos of it towards the end of this post.
Jill Stuart Everlasting Silk Powder Foundation Flawless Perfection (ジルスチュアート エヴァーラスティングシルク パウダーファンデーション フローレスパーフェクション/ 吉麗絲朵 雪紡恆燦無瑕粉餅, 5 shades, 10g, SPF 23, PA++, refill ¥3500, case with sponge (Powder Foundation Compact EP) ¥1500, replacement sponge (Makeup Sponge PF) ¥500) was released in spring/summer 2015. The shade I tested is 103.
Texture: It has a smooth and silky (almost creamy) texture. The powder can feel slightly thick and dense at first but it is very spreadable.
Coverage, pore coverage & finish: It offers a medium coverage. It is able to conceal most minor imperfections and it evens out the skin tone well. It creates a soft-focus semi-matte finish with a subtly satiny glow (not too glowy) and it has a fairly good pore coverage.
Oil control & lasting power: It doesn’t have any particular oil control efficacy but it doesn’t exaggerate the appearance of shine either. It has a decent lasting power (with some darkening overtime). It can settle into fine crevasses (which doesn’t look obvious) but it doesn’t settle into pores.
It contains several occlusive emollients, such as avocado oil, apricot kernel oil and mineral oil (paraffinum liquidum). It contains lavender oil, which is a potential irritant.
Overall, I like the soft-focus semi-matte finish and the medium coverage, but I generally prefer less emollient foundations. I think it should suit those with normal-to-dry, normal, and normal-to-oily skin. Those with oily skin may still find it usable but should not expect a noticeable oil-control effect.
Jill Stuart Powder Foundation Compact EP (ジルスチュアート パウダーファンデーション コンパクト EP/ 吉麗絲朵 雪紡粉餅粉盒 (EP), ¥1500) was released in spring/summer 2015. It features a handbag design with a detachable chain. (It reminds me of Cynthia Rowley’s Powder Foundation Petite Purse.) The overall look is quite elaborate but it doesn’t look overdone or fussy. It is a very pretty and princessy foundation case.
(The shade I tested (103) is lighter than my light-to-medium skin tone, but it does have a natural yellow-based tone and doesn’t look pinkish. (I am currently using ZA’s Perfect Fit Two-Way Foundation in OC20.) Compared with 103, 101 and 202 are supposed to be lighter while 204 and 105 are supposed to be darker. 202 and 204 are supposed to be more pink-toned than 101, 103 and 105.)
(In case Everlasting Silk Powder Foundation Flawless Perfection is not emollient enough for you, Rich Moisture Silk Powder Foundation, from Jill Stuart’s fall/winter 2015 base makeup collection, is supposed to be more emollient.)
