I was on a quest for a new eyeshadow brush for some time, and, after quite a bit of investigation, I decided to go for SUQQU‘s Eyeshadow Brush F.
I was looking for an eyeshadow brush for applying and blending lightening shades (not the highlighting or base shades) and shadowing shades. Overall it should have a flat shape. The hair itself should be relatively firm and bouncy, but the hair ends should feel soft and gentle on the eyelids. For applying and blending shadowing shades in particular, the ends of the hair should be more tapered on the sides (for applying a shadowing shade along the upper lashlines) and less tapered on the top (for spreading and blending it upwards).
SUQQU Eyeshadow Brush F (スック アイシャドウ ブラシ F/ SUQQU 晶采絕色眼影刷 F, 100% gray squirrel hair (according to SUQQU’s Japanese website), ¥8000 in Japan, £48 in the UK) was one of the more expensive eyeshadow brushes I looked at. Even though I knew that it had everything I wanted, I was still trying to find a more affordable alternative that was just as good. However, I came back to it and decided that it was worth the investment.
I have been using it for over a year, and I still think it is worth the investment. It has all the attributes I want (which I mentioned above). It applies and layers lightening and shadowing shades easily and efficiently, and it blends them seamlessly. It is simply a joy to use.
(I think either many or all of SUQQU’s makeup brushes are produced by Chikuhodo (竹宝堂), which is one of the best-known makeup brush producers in Japan. It produces its own ranges of makeup brushes and it also produces makeup brushes for other beauty brands.)
