SUQQU Blend Color Eyeshadow EX-26 Yuuaoi Fall 2015 Makeup 1

Pink and purple are my favorite color combination for eyeshadows, but I also like warm brown and dark blue. When I came cross the information on SUQQU‘s fall 2015 makeup collection, the limited-edition Blend Color Eyeshadow in EX-26 Yuuaoi immediately caught my attention. When I tested the palette at the counter later on, I was a little unsure about the tone of the brown shade (more explanation below). However, I still decided to purchase the palette mainly because I liked the color combination.

SUQQU Blend Color Eyeshadow in EX-26 Yuuaoi (スック ブレンド カラー アイシャドウ EX-26 夕蒼/ SUQQU 晶采絕色眼影盤 EX-26 夕蒼, limited edition, ¥6800 in Japan, £45 in the UK) is one of the three new variations of Blend Color Eyeshadow for fall 2015. The four shades in this palette are (from the lightest to the darkest):

cream white (with a cream-to-powder consistency), lightly pigmented, with pearly shimmer
pale warm pink, lightly pigmented, with pearly shimmer
medium-to-dark copper brown, well-pigmented, with pearly shimmer
moderately-dark muted navy blue, well-pigmented, satiny with soft shimmer

(The description of the cream white is based on the swatch at the SUQQU counter. I don’t use non-powder eyeshadows very often and I haven’t worn this shade.)

All the shades have multi-hued light-reflective particles. The three powder-based shades are very smooth, creamy and blendable, and they all have a good staying power.

The copper brown is a warm red-toned shade. Even though I do prefer warm neutrals to cool ones, I think the shade is a little too reddish for me. (I prefer a yellow-based gold tone.) Also, as a shadowing shade, it is very slightly darker than the neutrals I usually go for. (This is only a very minor issue compared with the tone of the shade.) The shade works better for me if I keep it fairly close to my lashlines and if I don’t blend it outwards too much. This way, the shade still adds plenty of depth to the eyes but the impact of the redness is kept under control.

As an eyelining shade, the muted navy blue goes on very smoothly. Its high color intensity also makes the application very efficient.

The two shades are well-coordinated and create a very autumnal look. Compared with Blend Color Eyeshadow in 01 Kakitsubata, EX-26 Yuuaoi creates a more feminine and sensual look. (Between the two palettes, I prefer 01 Kakitsubata. Even though the golden brown is also slightly darker than the neutral shadowing shades I usually go for, its gold tone suits me well.)

For me, EX-26 Yuuaoi can be a little tricky to wear. It is not a palette I would reach for if I want a quick makeup look. However, I do like it more than I initially did and the quality of the eyeshadow powder is superb. It’s just that, with this palette, it requires more care and precision than usual to create the look that works for me.

Oh, I like reading your eyeshadow reviews to plot/kill future purchases. I have been contemplating on kakitsubata for a while and I think I will cave in some times, it’s still a bit of a learning curve for me when it comes to suqqus no 1-6 core palettes, they are so tightly packed and a little hard to blend than their later releases.

The aw15 fall palettes are too similar to their past releases so my bank account is pretty safe, if I have two palettes with similar color layout usually just ended up using the more preferred one even though the look and feel are not similar when they are applied(two of their fall palettes just look like the trios from summer so there is no need for similar ones).

Hi Mina,

Even though the eyeshadow powder in EX-26 Yuuaoi is indeed smoother and creamier than that in 01 Kakitsubata, I would certainly still recommend Kakitsubata. For me, Kakitsubata’s golden brown works better than Yuuaoi’s copper brown, and I also think Kakitsubata is likely to be slightly more wearable for most people.

For your reference, the brown shade in Eye Color Palette in EX-02 Yosaizora from summer 2015 is considerably cooler than those in Kakitsubata and Yuuaoi, but of course the color compositions of these three palettes are similar.

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts again! :)

Thank you for probably the only color-true picture of this palette online! I was also looking at this copper shade for weeks until I decided to order 01, which still can be found here and there. You described and confirmed exactly what I was thinking :) Now I need to figure out if the 20 and 21 are also too warm or still can be worn. I like the new texture of Suqqu palettes, but the extreme warmth of all 3 palettes is strange.

Hi Jane,

You are very welcome! Thank you for your kind words about the photos. I am very pleased that they are helpful.

I hope you are enjoying wearing 01 Kakitsubata. I do personally think it has one of the best brown-blue combinations.

When it comes to the overall tone of an eyeshadow palette, I tend to focus on the medium shade. (I usually only use the darkest shade on my upper lashlines.) For me, among the three Blend Color Eyeshadow palettes from fall 2015, EX-26 is certainly the warmest. On the other hand, I don’t find 20 or 21 to be too warm. Do let me know what you think if you decide to try either or both of them.

Thank you very much for posing your comment! :)
