Following the launch of Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow last year, NARS released Dual-Intensity Blush for summer 2015. Six variations are currently available. They can be applied wet or dry, and the brand also released Wet/Dry Blush Brush to go with them. I decided to go for 5501 Panic and 5503 Adoration.
NARS Dual-Intensity Blush (NARS デュアルインテンシティーブラッシュ/ NARS 星燦奢華雙色腮紅, £30) in 5501 Panic features a moderately-to-well pigmented fuchsia pink with a soft dewy sheen and a moderately-to-well pigmented pinkish peach with a dewy glow and subtle pearly shimmer.
The pinkish peach is slightly more glowy and shimmery than the fuchsia pink. It looks quite orange-y in the pan, but it looks more pink-toned when worn. It looks surprisingly natural on me.
NARS Dual-Intensity Blush in 5503 Adoration features a moderately-to-well pigmented deep rose pink with a soft dewy sheen and a moderately pigmented off-white pink with pearly shimmer.
The off-white pink is by far the most shimmery shade among the four in these two variations. It has the kind of dimensional pearly shimmer I love in eyeshadows, but, as a highlighting shade for the cheeks, it can look a little too bling-y for me.
The fuchsia pink in Panic and the deep rose pink in Adoration are the reasons I went for these two variations. The deep rose pink in Adoration is slightly warmer than the fuchsia pink in Panic. They have virtually the same finish. Both create a rosy flush on the cheeks.
I am very impressed by the translucency and the natural dewy finish of the two shades in Panic and the deep rose pink in Adoration. When worn, these three shades don’t look obviously pearly or shimmery. Instead, they have a semi-moist finish that mimics the skin’s natural sheen. You don’t have to apply them wet to achieve this finish. (I haven’t tried applying any of the four shades wet.)
Even though these three shades are quite pigmented, the powder is firmly pressed and it is easy to be very light-handed with them and to slowly build up the color intensity.
Overall, I like both of them. Biteki magazine (August 2015 issue) lists Adoration as the best blusher released in the first half of 2015 (chosen by 52 beauty experts), but I prefer Panic because it has two very wearable shades and the fuchsia pink is my favorite shade among the four in these two variations.
