Today, I am opening my treasure chest again and we will be looking at Phantom Eyes in 28 from Elégance.
Elégance has always had an opulent and glamorous look. (See my profile on the brand here.) The brand started a major renewal of its point (color) makeup range with its holiday 2009 makeup collection, and the Phantom Eyes series was launched as part of the collection. The ten palettes in the launch lineup featured some unusual color combinations with bold colors, and I really liked the look of the case.
Elégance Phantom Eyes in 28 (エレガンス ファンタム アイズ 28, refill ¥4800, case (with applicators) ¥1500) was part of the brand’s spring 2013 makeup collection, and I purchased this palette in 2014. It features pink, lilac and plum, and there are lovely floral motifs on the eyeshadows. (It wasn’t an easy decision as I was quite tempted by some of the edgier color combinations.)
The gold case features wavy patterns and colorful jewel-like details. The case, with the refill inside, feels quite lightweight. I think a weightier case would match the substantial look of the product a lot better.
Elégance launched Nouvelle Eyes in fall 2013, and, since then, there didn’t seem to be any new variation of Phantom Eyes. Many of the variations were still available when I purchased 28, but unfortunately they are no longer available now.
I do miss Phantom Eyes as many of the color combinations and the motifs on the palettes are quite striking. (Have a look at some of them in some of my earlier posts on Elégance (I like the curtain design from the fall 2010 Operatic Queen collection), or google the images of “エレガンス ファンタム アイズ” (Elégance Phantom Eyes) to see some more of these gorgeous palettes.) I don’t think we will see anything with similar aesthetics from the brand in the near future, so I will definitely savor this palette.
