Japanese beauty magazine Maquia is running a Team Nippon project on its website. (The project is part of the website’s Japanese Women’s Beauty Plan feature.) What is interesting to me about this project is that it highlights regional beauty brands in Japan.
These brands tend to be distinctively different from mainstream Japanese beauty brands from major companies. Most of them carry products that incorporate local ingredients, and the product packaging often has a regional flavor.
I have been looking through the posts for each region and I have been fascinated by these brands. I have been aware of regional beauty products in Japan for some time, and my interest in them has certainly been increasing. Maybe you will read about some of them here in the future!
