10th: Chanel
Chanel stayed with soft neutrals, pinks, and plums in the last few seasons, which is why the brand’s summer 2013 makeup collection, Collection l’Été Papillon de Chanel, is a very pleasant surprise. Blue, turquoise, and green are joined by pink and gold to create a long-awaited colorful collection. I particularly like the limited-edition Les 4 Ombres in 44 Métamorphose (below).
9th: Dior
Intriguingly, with blue, turquoise, and green, Dior’s summer 2013 Bird of Paradise makeup collection has a similar color palette to that of Chanel’s summer 2013 makeup collection. I marginally prefer Dior’s collection as it has more color options for the eyes, with two 5 Couleurs palettes (374 Blue Lagoon and 434 Peacock, below) and two Diorshow Mono shades (273 Parati and 351 Feather).
8th: Esprique
Esprique’s summer 2013 makeup collection features three variations of Flower Me Palette (Eyes & Lips). I like the fact that the different case designs echo the colors in the palettes. Another interesting aspect of these palettes is that the two lip colors in each variation are designed to be used together but separately, the darker one on the upper lip and the lighter one on the lower lip. The two colors form a light-and-shade contrast, which is an ingenious way to create dimension for the lips.

7th: Coffret d’Or

Coffret d’Or’s summer 2013 makeup collection (technically the late summer/ early fall 2013 makeup collection) includes the new 3D Gradation Eyes palettes. (I was looking forward to a possible new eyeshadow palette series in the collection, as the line took a break in releasing a new eyeshadow palette series for spring late last year.) Four variations are available, and, at the moment, I am quite interested in trying 02 Mint Brown. (The purple in 04 Rose Purple looks a little too light for my liking.)
The countdown continues in Part 2!
