Earlier, I mentioned that I saw Guerlain‘s Emilio Pucci Terracotta Gloss in 12 Porto Azzurro in person but wasn’t sure whether I wanted to buy it. A few days later, I decided to get it.
From Guerlain’s summer 2012 makeup collection, in collaboration with designer Emilio Pucci, Terracotta Gloss in 12 Porto Azzurro is a sheer shimmer-less blue lip gloss with a navy tone and a hint of purple. It leaves a soft gloss on the lips (not a full-on glassy shine).
Even though it is sheer, it is actually not as sheer as I would want it to be. It leaves a visible veil of dark blue on the lips, even when I apply a thin layer. There is almost a Gothic quality to the shade.
This is not the first blue lip gloss from the Guerlain/Pucci collaboration. Guerlain’s Emilio Pucci Lip Gloss in 03 Sparkling Sea, from Guerlain’s summer 2007 makeup collection, is lighter and sheerer. It is the kind of blue-tinted lip gloss that I usually go for.
I did see the more pronounced blueness when I swatched it at the counter, but I decided to get it because it was something slightly different from my collection of blue lip glosses and it was a lip gloss shade that I hadn’t really come across before. I probably won’t wear it alone very often, but I might try layering it on some of my lipsticks or mixing it with other lip glosses.
