SoOud is a niche perfume brand created by French perfumer Stéphane Humbert Lucas. The lineup currently features eight fragrances, and each of them comes in Eau Fine (eau de parfum) and Parfum Nektar (more concentrated than Eau Fine).
The brand is inspired by the mysterious beauty of the Middle East. Four of the eight scents (Asmar, Burqa, Fam, and Kanz) contain the note of oud (resin from Aquilaria trees), and the fragrance bottles resemble a niqab. Today I am featuring Ouris Eau Fine.
Ouris (meaning “sublime” in Arabic) contains notes of peach, blackcurrant, plum, honey, tagetes (marigold), jasmine, white cedarwood, pollen accord, almond, iris butter, vanilla, sandalwood, and tonka.
I was expecting a somewhat traditional fruity-floral-woody development, but, to my surprise, on my skin, the scent is very vanilla-y from start to finish. The vanilla note is complemented by hints of honey and almond. The scent is decently long-lasting.
I don’t always like gourmand-based scents, as some of them can be too smoky (coffee) or too sweet (chocolate and caramel). However, I find Ouris very appealing. The sweetness of the moreish milky vanilla note has a gentle softness to it and it is very comforting. I usually stay away from overly sweet fragrances, and Ouris is certainly not one of them. I find it soothing and relaxing, and I think it is suitable for daytime, evening, and even bedtime.
Ouris is available in Eau Fine (60ml) and Parfum Nektar (30ml). In the UK, SoOud is available at Avery London.

Hi Giddy,
It is indeed an eye-catching bottle with a very specific look that the brand is trying to convey. Thank you very much for posting your comment! :)
