Founded in London in 2000, Heathcote & Ivory is a UK-based toiletry and home fragrance company that produces its own ranges of products as well as products for Cath Kidston and Sanderson. Today I am featuring two of Heathcote & Ivory’s hand creams, Mimosa & Pomegranate Hand & Nail Cream and Blueberry & White Tea Hand Cream.
Mimosa & Pomegranate Luxury Hand & Nail Cream with Shea Butter is from the brand’s Vintage Collection. The cream has a light creamy lotion consistency and contains moisturizing agents such as paraffinum liquidum (mineral oil), glycerin, cetearyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, and shea butter. It contains tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), which functions as an antioxidant.
The cream can take a bit of time to be absorbed but it eventually sinks in fully, but I feel that the texture and the finish are not as smooth as those of some of the other hand creams I have tried. Moisture-wise, it is a gentle hand cream that is far from heavy-duty. (The drier parts of my hands, such as the cuticles, need considerably more moisture.)
According to the packaging, the cream features notes of mimosa, frangipani, rose, muguet, pomegranate, apricot, peach, orange blossom, and cyclamen. I think the concoction of these notes lacks a clear identity and I also feel the scent is slightly overpowering.
Blueberry & White Tea Hand Cream with Shea Butter & Vitamin E is from the brand’s Bath & Body Collection. The cream has a slightly thicker consistency than that of Mimosa & Pomegranate Hand & Nail Cream and it has a smoother texture and finish.
The cream contains moisturizing ingredients such as soybean oil, cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, glycerin, and shea butter. It also contains tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E (antioxidant)). It does not contain parabens.
While this is also not a heavy-duty hand cream, I feel it is slightly more nourishing than Mimosa & Pomegranate Hand & Nail Cream. While its fragrance is still on the strong side, it is not as overpowering. (The berry-based scent is also more appealing to me.)
Overall, I prefer Blueberry & White Tea Hand Cream, but I would personally prefer hand creams that are more emollient.
In the UK, Heathcote & Ivory products are available in John Lewis and Waitrose. (In Japan, Aquagirl stores are carrying Heathcote & Ivory’s Vintage Collection.)
