(images from www.suqqu.com/japan.html)

The SUQQU Japanese website has been updated to feature the fall 2009 collection. Do have a look if you are interested in the full lineup. (SUQQU’s English website hasn’t been updated with the information on the collection.)

Overall this is a very sophisticated neutral-toned collection with a lot of wearable items. I personally like the fact that many of the neutral shades are softly warm neutrals which would suit my complexion a little more. (Cool neutrals can look a little ashy and greyish on me.)

Among the three new Blend Eyeshadow palettes, I like the look of EX-03 and EX-05. (EX-04 might be very slightly too cool-toned for me.) Both seem to have a couple of shades with a subtle gold undertone. I am also interested in the Polish Face Color (top left in the second photo). I am looking forward to seeing these three items in person.

(A reminder: SUQQU’s fall 2009 collection will be launched in Japan on August 7th and all the items in the collection are limited editions.)

Many thanks to Betsy at Autumn Masquerade for telling me about SUQQU’s website update. You can read about her thoughts on the collection here.

Hi PJ,

Thanks for the review. I'm still waiting for your review on Lavshuca High Cover!

What is one best recommended item to get from SUQQU?

I'm planning to visit a counter in Bangkok soon and keen to try their products but it's so costly!

Their Fall'09 shadows look interesting; I love earth colours! Do you think they have shimmers? I can't seem to carry shimmers! (smudge easily) So far only shimmers from Aube last longer on my lids.

I am truly amazed, this brand is really nice! Too bad I can't get it online anywhere!

Hi Winterberry_gal,

You are very welcome!

My review of Lavshuca High Cover will be up in a couple of weeks. I have been trying it out and I quite like it. It has a softly matte finish and I think it should suit those with combination or oily skin.

It is very hard to recommend just one product from SUQQU. But since you like earth colors that don't have a lot of shimmer, I think you might be interested in the Blend Eyeshadow palettes. There are several earth-toned palettes, and Blend Eyeshadow palettes don't usually have a lot of shimmer. (I think these new ones should be the same.)

I think the quality of SUQQU's lipsticks is very good too. (Nicely creamy and moisturizing.) Also, SUQQU's foundations are what makes the brand famous in Japan.

I hope you will have a wonderful time in Bangkok! Let me know what SUQQU item(s) you decide to try while you are there.

Thank you for stopping by again! :)

Hi Relaxbear,

SUQQU is indeed a very good brand. Do let me know if you are interested in purchasing the products on-line. I can recommend a website I have bought Japanese beauty products from.

Thank you for your comment! :)

Hi PJ,

I'm so glad your blog is back!

After trying so many of their products and I'm overwhelmed!

Suqqu has very good quality products.

I have purchased only one item – creamy lipstick in No.5. It's a sweet subtle pink which gives a natural "Spring" look. It's the most expensive lipstick that I've ever bought! It's very pigmented and moisturising like you said. But it doesn't last as long as matte lipstick.

I've also tested No.22. I love this shade too, but decided not to get this cos it's very similar shade from RMK's which I've already have.

I've tested their Blend Eyeshadow palettes; they do have a little bit of shimmers, but their ordinary shades and hefy price tag puts me off.

Their brushes are very soft and are very well-made. Again, it's the price tag that forbids me from getting.

Foundations are good, but I think I can get similar quality from RMK at lower prices.

Hi Winterberry_gal,

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and for letting me know that you are generally pleased with SUQQU's quality. :)

I agree that matte lipsticks do generally last longer than lipsticks with a glossier finish. I think it has something to do with the emollients and pigments in the formula. For me, I would prefer lipsticks that are more moisturizing and I would be happy to re-apply them.

I think both RMK and SUQQU have good-quality products. I am sure that many people would go for RMK since some of SUQQU's items are quite pricey. I do think a few of SUQQU's products are probably among the best makeup items I have tried, but deciding whether to spend that extra money can indeed be a difficult choice.

Thank you very much again for posting your comment! :)
