in -Kanebo, -Lavshuca, 2009 Spring, all about Japanese cosmetics, makeup, makeup - base makeup

The Kanebo website has posted images of Lavshuca’s spring 2009 items. The various Grade Color Eyes palettes are what I am particularly interested in.

(PK-1)
(images from www.kanebo-cosmetics.co.jp)
(BR-1)

(BR-2)
(GN-1)
(PU-1)

PU-1 looks very cool-toned to me here. It looks more lilac-y on the February 2009 issues of Biteki and Voce, but I still think the second darkest shade, supposedly the main shade for the lids, looks a little too pale for my liking. I will probably not go for this.

(Finish Powder)

The dark-plum lid of the new loose powder is not surprising, since plum is currently the main color for Lavshuca’s packaging. Even though it looks quite elegant (and there is still the puff with the cute bow), I would have liked a slightly more ornate case. The current Face Powder is available in Lucent (which I have) and Glow, and the new Finish Powder will be available in Lucent and High Cover. I am still intrigued in how High Cover performs.

ooh! these reminds me of Visee eyeshadow palettes! :P

I am particularly liking GN-1 and PU-1 the most! The rest are pretty, but isn’t BR-1 something that they always have on shelf? :( I wish they have some other colour selection :)

Hi PJ!

I just gotten a Lavshuca Face powder in Lucent and a Eye Color Select in Blue. They are my first Lavshuca products! (Lavshuca is not available in my hometown, so I got it in HK)

I absolutely love the Face powder! It has slight shimmer but when applied on face, the shimmers are gone! Best of all, the oil control is superb!

I also love its packaging; Jill Stuart loose powder fails to impress me.

Their Spring 2009 Collection are not available on shelves yet. I do not prefer the new packaging of their Face Powder; the lid looks dull.

I’ve yet to try the eye palette.

I also gotten a couple of Essence Rouge in PK-3 and BR-1. They are the best moisturising lipsticks I’ve ever used! Convenient to use too; no lipbrush needed!

My first encounter with Lavshuca was in Japan last year, however at that point of time, their products fail to impress me. I do not know why.

When I got back home, I realised Lavshuca is such a hit! I regretted even more after I read your reviews. So this time I am determined to get my hands on Lavshuca on my trip to HK. I’m glad I did and did my sums. It’s even cheaper to purchase in HK than Japan given the high Yen rate!

Hi Plue,

I would say PU-1 is my favorite among them as well…

Yes, the two BR palettes are very similar to what Lavshuca and many other Japanese brands have constantly been bringing out. I do agree with you that it would be nice to see some other color combinations, but it seems that neutral palettes usually sell very well in Japan…

Thank you for your comment again! :)

Hi Winterberry-gal,

I am glad to know that you are enjoying using your Lavshuca items!

Lavshuca’s Face Powder in Lucent is still one of my favorite loose powders. I agree with what you said…the shimmer doesn’t look obvious at all when applied, and the oil control ability is very good.

I have heard some other good reviews on Rouge Essence Bar regarding its moisturizing properties and smooth texture. I have to say I am intrigued. I might give them a try in the future. :)

I am definitely preferring the existing loose powder case as well. It is a lot prettier and more princessy.

I hope you will discover more nice items from Lavshuca, and keep me posted on your thoughts!

Thank you for stopping by again! :)

Definitely…I think Lavshuca is still the brand that comes up with some of the cutest product designs…

Hi Kng Suan,

Good to hear from you again. :)

I am definitely thinking about getting the new loose powder (probably in High Cover). I think I might wait for a few months, after I get the must-buy items on my list. I will certainly review it on my blog if I get it.

Thank you for your comment again! :)

Hi PJ,

Have you got a chance to try Lavshuca Finishing Powder in High Cover? I've been waiting for your review for a few months for that particular one hehe…

I've read a review from a blogger who is really disappointed with the high cover one. She said it made a mess of yellow spots on her face which then made me feel reluctant.

I'll keep an eye on your blog for the review.

Cheers,

Aq

Hi Aq,

I am very sorry for my late reply!

I have tried both Lucent and High Cover of the Lavshuca Finish Powder. I like both, but I prefer Lucent to High Cover. I like the soft-focus finish that Lucent creates. High Cover has a slightly better shine control but its pore coverage is not as good.

I will be posting the long-overdue review either today or tomorrow. I am sorry for the delay. Hopefully you will stop by and have a look. :)

Thank you very much for your question! :)

Hi PJ,

How have you been? Hope you have been well.

I had been thinking about getting these palettes since they were launched but like others, did not get them immediately because the color selection were the usual suspects. I gave in to temptation and bought GN-1 about 6 months ago and I have recently added BR-1, BR-2 to my Lavshuca collection.

BR-1 is a golden shade with a brown liner. I think this palette leans more to the off-white/gold spectrum than it is a brown palette. The second shade from the left is used to even out and brighten the eye area. When I first used the palette, I was a little shocked at how much the sponge applicator picked up, thinking that the powder was too powdery and soft, which may fall out onto my under eye or inside my eye. However, I was very impressed by its blendability and its ability to cover and brighten the eye crease area. The only other comparable eye palette base color that I was impressed with was the Coffret D'or Trance Deep Eyes in Pink, which also had a very beige base color. The base color from the Lavshuca palette has a very good coverage and effectively brightens up the eye area. The third shade is a very light contouring shade, which is meant to give the illusion of shadow (not really adding color) in the crease area. The fourth shade is the liner shade, which is an intense matte brown liner shade and stays on fresh the whole day. The first shade is a golden shade with subtle sparkle and is layered over the entire eye area for a sheen of brilliance.

I am quite pleased with this collection and think it is true to the promotional photos from Puffy. I especially like it because the intensity of the liner shade coupled with the golden shade allows me to create a nicely defined wide eyed neutral look.

BR-2 is similar to BR-1 and light reddish brown undertone. It is still very wearable and gives more contour/shading to the eye crease. However, I still enjoy BR-1 more because of its ability to brighten up the eye area, which draws more attention to the matte brown liner in contrast. BR-2 has a GN-1 is also a very nice palette and has a very impressive "grass" green shade. It is most suitable as a night time eye shadow.

It should be noted that the eye shadows from the Lavshuca Spring 09 collection is different from the previous and current Lavshuca collections in terms of intensity and sheen. They provide a different look on the overall. The browns in Eye Color Select are different as they are more translucent in nature, giving a very clean and fresh/natural look.

In fact I have been pretty impressed with the Lavshuca Dual Prism as well. I had previously thought that the eye shadow palettes were not worth getting as it only contains 2 colors. I had decided to get SV-1 after reading Kathi's review at Lotus Palace. It is very impressive and is comparable to Shu Uemura's award winning shade in turquoise/teal. The darker shade is generally dark enough to be a liner shade. I think the small preview pictures on the website is not very accurate, but the Puffy promotional photos are quite accurate to real life application. I hope this post has been helpful to people who are on the fence on whether they should try the eye palettes or not.

Hi Laura,

I am doing okay, and I hope you are well!

First of all, I am so sorry for replying to your comment so late. I have been very busy in the past few weeks and there has been far from enough time for me to maintain my blog as frequently as I would have liked to, but your wonderfully detailed thoughts deserve a full reply.

Thank you so much for sharing your helpful insight with us. You probably know that purples are my favorite colors for eyeshadows. They are followed by neutral shades. So far, I have found that neutrals are a lot trickier than purples. There are many subtle nuances among GD, BE, and BR shades, and very often the magazine pages don't do justice to them.

Over the years, I have noticed that bronze shades are definitely too warm for me. Yellow golds can sometimes look harsh on me, and taupes usually look too greyish and ashy on me. I think the neutrals that suit me are warm beige golds, soft rose (or peach) golds, and light-to-medium warm beiges.

According to your descriptions, I think BR-1 would suit me more than BR-2 since BR-1 seems to be more of a gold-brown palette, which appears to be slightly warmer than BR-2.

So far, the neutral palette that I go for the most is Coffret D'Or's 3D Lighting Eyes in 05 Gold Variation. But recently I have been thinking about getting something that is very slightly less gold and more beige. Coffret D'Or's upcoming Jewelcious Eyes in 04 Amber Beige has caught my attention. Coffret D'Or's Color Mixing Eyes in 01 might be a good one too. Also, I have been considering buying the two BR Eye Color Select palettes from Lavshuca for a long time. I think it is quite likely that I will pick up a neutral palette in the next few months…

Thank you very much again for sharing your views and experiences! :)
