I was waiting to bring you the information on Dior’s fall 2008 makeup collection, and I was especially looking forward to the limited-edition star item.

Impression Cuir features three neutral shades in crocodile prints. The case seems to be only slightly larger than Dior’s eyeshadow single.

The rest of the collection is also dominated by neutrals. After a predominantly neutral collection from Dior for summer, I was looking forward to something different. I have to say I am a little bit disappointed, and Impression Cuir also doesn’t look very appealing to me. (At the moment, it seems that gold and dark neutrals are the makeup trends of fall 2008.)

Please do enjoy the photos of the rest of Dior’s fall 2008 collection. (More information and observation follow below. All images are from the Voce website.)

– The collection also includes two lip liners and one eyeliner.

– The new Couleur Duo is available in two variations.

– All items are limited editions, except the Couleur Duo, the lip liners and the eyeliner.

Just one more thing. One of the two new eyeshadow palettes (the first one seen above) really reminds me of Lunasol’s Scent Form Eyes in Black Tea, which is released in fall 2006 and is one of Lunasol’s most popular items to date. Both feature the unique combination of soft plum-red and warm green, paired with neutrals.

I agree with you. While I like the look of the Impression Cuir, I would prefer them in not so neutral colours. Neutral colours are nice and all but it looks a bit boring. I would love one of the star items if they weren’t in neutral shades. (I’m a big fan of textured make-up like that, which is probably why I like Dior single shadows). Oh well, there’s always the Christmas collection.

i was hoping for a really good Star Product, but this is really more of an anti-climax. so, they stuck 3 neutral eyeshadows together and embossed it with a croc print.

at least the spring collection had that cute gem embossed in the middle.

maybe the Christmas Starproduct will turn out to be cool.

Although I am not such a big fan of eyeshadow palettes, the Dior palettes are always pretty…..until now, that is. Impression Cuir looks like parched or scorched earth in the desert. I would not consider buying it. To me, this big Neutrals Trend just means that I’ll have more to spend on new Bleu Glacis items. But then again, it will be interesting to see what Dior does for their holiday collection.

I’m disappointed as well love. The vast amount of neutrals and nudes from collections lately is truly a snore and the Summer Collection and Fall Collection for Dior is quite disappointing :(

Hi Ebontien,

I would definitely like another version of Impression Cuir with more unique colors. But it appears at the moment that this is the only one for fall 2008…

I like some of the textured makeup items, including some of the Chanel Irréelle products. I guess, in this case, I don’t really like the animal prints on makeup colors…

But I think it might still sell well, if the texture and the finishes are spot-on. I will certainly test it out at the counter when it comes out.

Thank you for posting your thoughts again! :)

Hi Q,

Looking back, I do agree that the spring star palette is a much more interesting product. Personally, I think it is more visually stunning.

At the moment, I am not planning on picking up products from the fall collection, so I will be saving up for a possibly (and hopefully) very good holiday item. :)

Thank you very much for reading my blog and leaving your comment! :)

Hi Lynn,

That’s quite an accurate description of the look of the palette, I have to say…

Even though it does look somewhat interesting and certainly different, it is not really for me either.

It seems that everyone (so far, including me) is already looking forward to Dior’s holiday 2008 collection! Let’s hope Dior delivers…

Thank you for posting your comment again! :)

Hi The Muse,

I do agree with you. The only difference I have noticed is that Dior’s summer collection is warmer and we are now seeing cooler neutrals in the fall lineup. But still I would have liked to see a more varied collection…

Thank you for leaving your comment again! :)
