Summer Is Approaching – Sheer Stella 2008

(Sheer Stella 2008 takes center stage.)

In my earlier post on Sheer Stella 2008, I mentioned that it would be launched in the UK (in Debenhams stores) on March 16. It was a Monday, and I went to a Debenhams store the day before, thinking that it might already be there. It was, and I happily took it home.

Considering Sheer Stella 2007 and 2006 were launched in mid-April, the mid-March launch of Sheer Stella 2008 seemed unexpectedly early to me (especially since Sheer Stellas are meant to be summer fragrances).

The bottle design is quite different from all the previous versions. The semi-opaque glossed cream-white glass bottle features a large rose motif. For the first time, the cap is white and has white dots spelling out “STELLA”.

As expected, the scent is a lighter and fresher version of Stella and is not too different from all the previous Sheer Stellas. However, this year’s version no longer uses green apple, lemon, or orange as a top note to give that zesty vibe. Instead, the scent opens with more sweetness, thanks to white freesia and raspberry.

(My favorite bottles are the 2005 and 2007 ones.)

Sheer Stella 2008 is perhaps the sweetest Sheer Stella of all, but only marginally so. It is still a very pleasing rose fragrance with a modern edge, which is why I fell in love with Stella in the first place.

beautiful collection PJ! I’m interested in trying this out.

Off topic but you did a review on Thymes Red Chérie Collection not too long ago. You know me well enough would you recommend this to me?

I love girlish fruity blends and this sounded so yummie in your review!

Happy Weekend!

Hi The Muse,

Do let me know what you think if you get to test it! :)

If you like sweet scents, then the Thymes Red Chérie collection might appeal to you. Overall this is a straightforward scent and might lack the different layers of notes that exist in those from more prestigious perfume houses. But if you simply like all the notes, then it shouldn’t be an issue.

Hope you’ll like it if you get to try it!

Thank you for dropping by again! :)

Hi Michelle,

Thank you very much for reading my blog!

I do like this year’s version of Sheer Stella. The bottle might not be one of my favorites out of the five Sheer Stellas so far, but the scent is very lovely.

I hope it will be launched in Singapore soon, and do let me know your thoughts if you have a chance to test it!

Thank you for posting your comment! Hope to hear from you again :)

Hi, PJ!
I tried this on at Sephora today & was immediately charmed by its sweet tea rose scent. I bought a bottle (& I think it’s a very beautiful bottle) & brought it home but I haven’t reapplied. Now I think I’m getting a whiff of vanilla from it, which I really don’t care for. Have you noticed this? I’m trying to decide if I should keep it or exchange to for the original which I always love.

Hi Christina,

I see. I have used it a few times, and I didn’t particularly notice the vanilla note. (Maybe it does not show up on me as much or maybe I didn’t pay enough attention.) I will definitely try it again soon and let you know.

But overall I didn’t experience notes I didn’t like with it. If I were you, I would probably give it another chance. If you still don’t like it, then perhaps it would be a better idea to exchange it. But it depends on how much you’d like to keep the bottle. (I would find that decision a little hard myself….) Let me know what you decide on!

Thank you very much for visiting my blog again! :)
