Chanel’s fall 2008 collection is Peter Philips’ first creation since he took over the role of Chanel’s creative director of makeup in January 2008 from Dominique Moncourtois and Heidi Morawetz.
Gold takes center stage in both collections, and part of the fall 2008 collection (out in July) includes:
– Gold Fiction nail polish
– Facettes D’Or (gold loose powder)
– Gold Light Glossimer lip gloss
Part of the Chanel Holiday 2008 collection (out in October) includes:
– Poudre Precieuse Or (gold highlighting powder)
– Gold Shine Glossimer lip gloss
– Haute Chocolate nail polish (brown gold nail color)
(The WDD article has more information on the two collections.)
I have to say that if I had got to know about these two collections a month ago, I would probably have had virtually no interest at the time. But, interestingly, I just got Dior‘s Golden Dior pendant yesterday. Also, perhaps slightly more relevantly, after weeks of going back and forth in my mind, I decided to get another Coffret D’Or 3D Lighting Eyes palette (in Gold Variation) earlier this month (which I adore).
(I will bring you the Golden Dior pendant tomorrow and the Coffret D’Or palette in a couple of weeks’ time. Do come back!)
Personally, the shades we see in the photo above are a little bit on the warm side for me, and they are not the shades I’d go for at the moment. (But it does remind me of my own Chanel Ombre D’Eau in Bay.) Nevertheless, I look forward to seeing the full lineups in July and October and having some good testing at the counter…

Hey! Nice to know about ur great new buys and i can’t wait to read ur views about them! =D
Anyways, the Lavender Coral palette finally arrived at the shores of Singapore to the Lunasol counters! =D I totally can’t wait to get them especially when u raved about them too! I absolutely adore purple eyes and I was supposed to get them yesterday with my mum but I had an important appointment which meant I did not even lay my hands on it at the counter!
Coffret D’or finally launched in Singapore as well, replacing T’estimo but I’m not so excited about it since I already had some of it when I went to Japan last year. Its good for those who couldn’t get the collection before but it’s kinda sad news to me because I could have spent the money on Visee if I knew Coffret D’or was coming to Singapore. Oh well, I had some pretty good uses out of it before it launched here so I guess that makes things better. =D
Enjoy ur haul! Muackz
Hi PJ,
I’m so excited to hear you’ve got Coffret d’or in Gold Variation. Can’t wait to see your post about it cos I have been thinking back and forth whether I should get one. Actually, I bought one Coffret d’or palette in Pink (number 01) a month ago, and I really love it! I like purple shades when it comes to eyeshadow, but I’ve got too many purple palettes already (including Laschuva Winter Collection I got from Taipei). So I decided to buy the pink one instead and it is definitely the right decision.
I will be living in NY starting from next month. That’s why I’m stocking Jap brands that are not available there. But high chances I will still visit Sephora regularly. :P
I’ve been to London many times. And I might be there again soon….it’s one of my favourite cities. :)
Gold is my favourite colour!
i love gold! and i just got my golden dior yesterday too! i made an extra special, extra early trip down to holt refrew (out highest end department store in canada, carrying brands like LV, Dior, Gucci, etc) to pick it up! it’s so lovely.
Hi Cosine,
Great to hear from you again!
My initial thoughts about Golden Dior are up. Hope you will enjoy the post! :)
It is very exciting that both the spring 2008 Lunasol collection and Coffret D’Or have arrived in Singapore. I do hope you will get to see the new Lunasol palettes very soon. Do let me know what you think, since you will be seeing all the five palettes. :)
The only Visée item I have is the lip palette from Holiday 2006. But recently some of their eye palettes look pretty good and I have been paying a lot more attention to the brand.
My post about the Coffret D’Or Gold Variation eye palette will be up before mid-May, so do please come back! :)
Thank you for writing to me again. Have a great week! :)
Hi Molly,
My post about Coffret D’Or Gold Variation will be up by mid-May. Hope you will find it useful for you.
What I love about Coffret D’Or 3D Lighting Eyes is that the texture of the powder is wonderfully smooth and the finish is elegant, natural, and subtle. The subtlety of this range is the reason why I decided to get a gold palette from it, since I don’t like neutral shades to be too intense.
Actually, all the 3D Lightening Eyes palettes look very pretty. The pink one is definitely a great choice. It is quite girlie but is still very elegant.
It is exciting that you will be in New York soon. It is one of the places I have really wanted to visit. There is just so much to do there. As you know, we have no Sephora here. So it will surely be on my list when I visit the US.
(I love London too. I think London and Tokyo are two of my favorite places…)
Thank you for stopping by again, and have a great week! :)
Hi CC,
Gold is certainly growing on me. At the moment, I like neutral golds that are not too orangy or brownish. :)
Thank you for visiting my blog again! :)
Hi Hightea_xx,
Great that you got Golden Dior as well!
I really like the design of the pendant. It is more understated than some of the past limited-edition star items. I am glad that you like it too! :)
(But I do like the slightly more blingy ones as well…)
Thank you for visiting my blog again, and hope you are enjoying the rest of the weekend! :)
