If you have been following the latest news on the Anna Sui website, you might have come across the information on the release of the official mini-encyclopedia of Anna Sui Cosmetics.

It covers the history of the brand, the 7 keywords of Anna Sui Cosmetics (rose, butterfly, purple, red, black, glitter, antique), makeup looks using Anna Sui items, Anna Sui fans’ favorite items in various categories, and a lot of images of the brand’s past limited-edition items. The book also comes with a rectangular case and a round coin pouch, both limited editions.

If you are ready (I am serious…some of you might want to go through all the trouble to have your own copy), a blogger has posted photos of almost all the pages.

At the moment, the book has been more or less sold out in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, and it is more likely to find it on auction sites.

According to JBook and Amazon Japan, it appears that it will be back in stock in Japan at the end of this month. However, Amazon Japan has stopped offering International Economy Shipping. With International Express Shipping as the only option, a book will cost 30 USD and 36 USD to be shipped to North America and Europe respectively. It is a lot of money, considering that the book itself is only 1365 yen (around 13 USD).

I’ll have to leave you to make that decision…

hey PJ,I saw that book on ebay as well, the starting bid is around $24 dollars plus $5-8 shipping, talking about rip-off…

well, beside that shipping, I am not sure whether it’s good idea to buy a $30 book that would make me want to buy more anna sui stuff…The truth is, I already want the black rose compact after seeing the pictures from sushibaby … I already have 3 items with similar design…and that eye glitter and beauty tray and soap dish…this is NOT a good sign…well, at least I am slowing down on Anna Sui(kind of, consider I already have a bit from each category) and checking out other brands as well,I need some variety in my collection…Paul & Joe seems nice.

Thanks for posting the link, I will talk to you later!

Mina

PS.Is wieniawski a pain to type?

Hi Wieniawski,

No, it is not too hard to type. :) But I think I’ve usually called you Mina. :)

Indeed, I have seen the book on eBay as well, and I have seen a seller charging even more for shipping.

I am still thinking about whether I want this. I’d think I am okay without it, but I wouldn’t mind having it if I could find a good price…

Paul & Joe is another well-packaged brand. I think it is slightly more low-key than Anna Sui, but the packaging is still very ornate and pretty…

By the way, if you are interested, you can check out Sushibaby’s photo album (the link is on the blog’s sidebar). There is an amazing stash of Anna Sui skincare and makeup items, as well as all the limited-edition GWP’s. You might have to spend quite a lot of time to go through the photos…

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts again! :)

hey PJ,

I managed to take a good while to look at her archieve(that site wasn’t as user-friendly as blogger so it was little bit hard to navigate) …man, she is the real fan. I personally wouldn’t want to stock up that many items from the same brand…Her collection was a little treat for the eyeballs nonetheless.

Just something about the pictures, I did sort lose some appetite for Anna Sui because of the large quantity, the items seem quite cheap when they are piled together…afterall, they are just well-designed plactics…

I saw your review on Paul & Joe’s foundation, the jar is so cute! ( maybe I could use that sheer coverage, but since my skin is a bit on the reactive side, and Texas ‘s weather+cream foundation…I don’t know what that is adding up to. I might go for a lip gloss if I am getting a P&J item…or I can live with the 20 something tubes I got.

Actually I want some green(my favorite color since 6th grade) lip gloss( the jelly type) because I love green and I alway find myself buying lip gloss…maybe I should just post a knock-off of your splash of color(I love the pictures btw, keep them coming!) beside I can only pull off green, with 4 items at this moment, including eyedrop, ahem)

I should just save up and buy myself a bike…

Hi Mina,

That is one of my first reactions as well. Even though I love Anna Sui very much, I have other favorites as well so the spending has to be balanced…:)

I also think some of the Anna Sui GWP items (especially bags and pouches) are perhaps not as well-made as they could have been.

But, I guess, for serious collectors, having them, comparing them, and charting all the little steps of the brand’s history are all very important, even if some items are more misses than hits.

With Paul & Joe, I admit that the beautiful jar is part of the reason I bought it. :) But, having said that, I would not buy it for the full price since I don’t wear liquid/cream foundations very often at all…

I have several more splashes of colors coming up, and hopefully you’ll enjoy them! I look forward to your tribute to green as well.

Thank you for posting your comment again! :)
