I bought this such a long time ago that I don’t remember which brand it is from. I only remember that it is from a very inexpensive Japanese drugstore beauty tool brand. There are many such brands in Japan as well as in other Asian countries, and it is generally not hard to get something similar.
This is usually called a narrow curler or a precision curler. The curler itself measures about 0.8 cm. It doesn’t grab and curl all the lashes at the same time. Instead, it curls a portion of the lashes at a time.
The best thing about this kind of curler is that it can really get to the lashes at the two ends. Also, I can have an optimal control as to the exact extend and angle of the curl I want from different sections of my lashes.
Plus, sometimes the curve of a normal curler might not suit everyone. This is absolutely not an issue here. This is something that I think everyone can use to get the most beautifully naturally curled lashes.
With all these wonderful merits, this is my first and only eyelash curler, and I have never needed another one!
If you are interested, Japonesque and Seki Edge carry very similar versions.

Hi PJ –
Oh wow! I’ve never seen anything like it! It’s small, I can see how this would help to get every single lash – even the ones that are super hard to get in the corners.
I’d love to try this; I’ll have to scope the US to see where I can find one to see for myself before I purchase online.
How long can you keep this curler before it needs to be replaced? From the sound of your post, never?
Hello Nilla Cookie,
Thank you for commenting again!
Well, I have to admit that I am not really a lash/mascara person. I only use a mascara occasionally so I don’t curl my lashes regularly.
But I always wipe the curler before and after I use it and I wash it from time to time. I’ve had this curler for at least five years and I never feel that I need to replace it. (The curler also comes with one back-up rubber cushion (the pink bit), but I have not needed to use it. The rubber cushion is very durable.)
Thank you for stopping by again! :)
Thanks for replying back! I like the idea of having an eyelash curler for 5 years without having to worry about it. This is definitely one that I’ll be on the lookout for.
Thanks again!
I’ve tried a precision curler once before but I just couldn’t get the knack of using it correctly!
At the moment I’m using the so called caddy of curlers, Shu’s curler, and I’m loving it.
I am tempted by the Excel one have you seen it?
This does look interesting but I’m just not a master at curling my lashes separately!
You’re totally giving me lessons on how to use this when we meet up because I’m dead curious! Like I said I tried one like this from Sephora before and I almost poked an eyeball out hehehe ;)
Love ya!
Great review ;)
i suppose your one is from KOJI as i have the same one

Hello Nilla Cookie again,
You are welcome!
Hopefully it won’t be too hard to find it where you are.
Let me know how you feel about it if you manage to get it! :)
Hello The Muse,
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed the review.
Indeed, the Shu Uemura lash curler has been very popular. The ones by Shiseido and SUQQU have also been very popular.
I have come across a couple of good reviews of the Excel curler, but I have not seen it personally.
I’ll definitely give you a demo when there is a chance! It can be slightly tricky to get to the lashes towards the inner corners, but overall the effect is very satisfactory.
Thanks for commenting again! :)
Hello Sin5409,
Good to hear from you again!
I do believe we have the same one! So it is by KOJI then. It’s great to be reminded of the brand it is from. I am going to update the post later on…
Thank you so much for the information! :)
I just came across your blog and I notice that you’ve got a giant collection of Japanese products. So I’d like to ask – where exactly do you buy all these Japanese products? Many of these brands I’ve never heard of b/c they’re not carried anywhere here in the US as far as I know. Are there specialty stores in the UK that sell lots of Japanese makeup products?
Hello there,
Thank you for stopping by my blog!
I buy most of my Japanese cosmetics items when I travel to Asia. Also, sometimes some of my friends in Asia help me buy them and send them to me.
Actually, I have never found any specialty store in the UK that carries any major brand of Japanese cosmetics. (But brands like RMK, SUQQU, Paul & Joe, Shiseido International, and Kanebo International are available in high-end department stores in the UK.)
As far as I know, there are more shops in the US that carry some Japanese cosmetics brands. Most of them are in Asian/Japanese shopping centers in New York and California.
Sometimes, I get my Japanese cosmetics items from a website called Adam Beauty
(http://www.adambeauty.com/). It takes paypal and ships internationally. (There are other similar sites. But so far I have only shopped from this site and I would recommend this. The prices are fair and I am happy with the service.)
Thank you again for leaving a comment. Do let me know if you have any other question. :)
That looks fantastic, I’m definitely going to bookmark the two sites you mention and check them out when my current curler dies. It’s amazing how much of a difference a good eyelash curler can make – I really like the sound of one that just curls a few lashes at a time!
Hello Amber,
Thank you very much for leaving your comment!
I think I am generally a fussy person, so this kind of precision tool appeals to me…and it does work very well for me.
Do let me know what you think if you pick up something similar! :)
Can you give me a website where I can be able to read in english, so I can purchase this same curler? Thanks and love your blog!
Hi May,
Thank you for reading my blog and for your question.
Unfortunately the Kenko website that Sin5409 mentioned is not available in English. But if you type in “Koji Accent Curler” in a search engine, you might find people selling them on auction sites.
Also, you can try contacting ichibankao.com. They can help you locate beauty items that are not listed on their site.
Hope it helps, and let me know if you have any other question. :)
Hi PJ
Hope your spring is going well. I’ve just come back from Hong Kong and bought a whole new stash from KATE and Maquillage which I am v happy about!
From your suggestions, I also bought the ZA two way foundation which I have yet to try, and the Koji eyelash curler. I have attempted it once and found it challenging! I’ve got the Shu one but prefer the RMK one. Any tips on how to use the Koji one will be appreciated! I kept poking my eye with it as opposed to doing any curling!
Hi Fi,
I am doing okay. Thank you very much for asking! :)
I hope you had a good time in Hong Kong, and it is great that you are pleased with your new Kate and Maquillage items. I’d be curious to know what you think about the ZA Two-Way Foundation and how you would compare it with your Coffret D’Or foundations. I certainly hope you will like it.
As for the Koji eyelash curler, I know exactly what you mean. It used to do that to me sometimes in the beginning, then I figured out that, as long as I try to have the upper part of the curler (the upper metal panel, not the lower part with the rubber cushion) gently touching/hugging the upper eyelid during the curling, the lower rubbery part will be relatively away from the eyeball. Hope I have explained myself properly, and let me know if you have any other question.
Thank you very much for posting your comment again! Have a good week! :)
Hi PJ
Thanks for the tip, I tried and will need more practice!
I remember the first time I tried using the Rimmel liquid eyeliner in my teens and found it disastrous. Now, after practicing, it’s an essential part of my look and I use it every day. It’s funny to think about how the exact same product can look so different with different application technique.
It made me smile that you remembered I love the Coffret D’or :) I still have three that I’ve opened so I might finish one before I try the ZA. I will let you know when I try it.
Hope you have a great rest of the week.
Hi Fi,
You are very welcome! :)
You are absolutely right. Sometimes, it requires a bit of practice and experiment to find out the best way to apply a product, and the right technique can vary from person to person. It can be tricky, but I think it can also be a fun part of makeup.
I look forward to your thoughts on ZA. In the meantime, have a good weekend! :)
Hi PJ
I just had to tell you, I got a mini sample of Dior snow with the current Biteki and it was so cute I decided to try it. It is Amazing!! I’m going to try it with my usual sponge to check to see if it’s to do with the teeny sponge they give you.
Using their small sponge, it gives a really lovely natural coverage and the oil control is excellent. I love the Coffret D’or but found that after a long day, oxidation occurs around the nose and chin, but with the Dior snow powder foundation, it is very slight and looks much more natural. Am super impressed! Luckily my relative is going back to HK and has offered to get me a a full sized one, because I don’t think I can get it online?
As you mentioned you like oil control, I think you might like it as I have oily skin and it makes it look good all day! Haven’t tested for photos yet, but just had to let you know, got super excited that it gave such a good result :)
Hi Fi,
I collected my June Biteki a few days ago, and I have got my Dior foundation sample too!
It is great that you are enjoy using it, and it sounds like something I would like as well. I will definitely try it and will probably report my thoughts in a post later on.
Many thanks again for sharing your thoughts! :)
