SUQQU in Selfridges London and Shu Uemura in Fenwick Bond Street

in -Shu Uemura, -SUQQU, all about Japanese cosmetics, all about Japanese cosmetics (overseas availability information), makeup, skincare

Finally I was at the SUQQU counter to see all the products for the first time yesterday. Wonderful service there, which reminded me of my trip to Japan when the sales assistants bowed to me after hearing my compliments on their products.

This time, she didn’t bow to me, but she did say “Thank you” when I complimented on their nice packaging. (Usually, at most other counters in the UK, I get the reply “It is indeed nice, isn’t it?” They will *never* say this in Japan. You are supposed to be thankful for a customer’s compliment, not to eagerly agree with it. Well, I know there is no right or wrong about this.)

I left with a Creamy Lip Stick in 22 Benikoji, a nice beige pink. I also got samples of HA Complex Lotion and HA Complex Emulsion. In true Japanese style, the sales assistant came around the counter and handed the bag to me with both hands. Again, I felt like I was in Takashimaya Shinjuku.

Later, I went to Fenwick Bond Street Christmas Shopping Evening. As I expected, there were loads of people in the beauty section. It’s because it was rare for a department store to have a 20% discount on all cosmetics and fragrances. (As far as I know, on special 20% off days, department stores like Debenhams and House of Fraser only do 10% on cosmetics and fragrances.) No surprise, the accessory section was full of people looking through all the “it” bags for this season.

I bought a few things, including the Depsea Therapy Moisture Recovery Nanowater. I left feeling satisfied and wanted to come back next year.

By the way, I saw Dior’s Asia-only “Ultra Shine 2” lipsticks in Harvey Nichols.

I will now save the money for the coming winter sale.

Hello there =)
I just happened to land on your blog while searching through google for anything by SUQQU. I’ve never heard of them before until recently so I decided to look them up online. Sadly, I was not able to find an official SUQQU website. Please do write more about the product and how you like it =)

Hello Aisa,

Thank you for your feedback!

Here are the two official SUQQU websites:

http://www.suqqu.com/japan.html (Japan)

http://www.suqqu.com/global/
(International)

At the moment, SUQQU is only available in Japan, Thailand, and the UK. But I have a feeling that it might further expand its market.

I’ll definitely write more about SUQQU in the near future. So do stay tuned! ^_^

Hi, I am searching on google for SUQQU in the UK and found your blog.
Your articles are really nice!! I love it!
I think very few of UK people know about this brand….

Their “massage cream” is my favorite!
I’ ve bought one from Japan(through my friend)
It’s nice and smooth, absolutely suitable for my dry skin…..and I’m gonna have another one when I go to London recently.
The eyelash curler is also amazing.(I mean, for Asian people, I’m from Taiwan)

Can you tell me about the price of SUQQU in London?
I’m afraid it will be so expensive that I couldn’t afford.
The price in Japan isn’t very cheap….
But the quality worth it!

Hi Ko-Chin,

Thank you very much for visiting my blog and leaving your comments!

Thank you for your kind words as well! :)

I have a friend who also likes the massage cream. I have experienced the facial massage at the SUQQU counter in Selfridges. It did feel very nice, although I didn’t like the lotion they used to take off the massage cream. (My skin can’t really tolerate alcohol.)

But I have a sample of the massage cream. I might try that later when my face feels particularly dry.

As you might have seen, SUQQU’s prices are quite expensive in the UK. It seems that some items are about 40% more expensive than their retail prices in Japan. So I have not been buying a lot from them here. But I do think many of their products (particularly makeup items) are of very good quality.

Thank you again for reading my blog. Hope to hear from you again soon! :)

Thank for your reply. I’m also happy to know here!
I’ll be in London 4/7-4/11.
Can’t wait to see those products!!

SUQQU’s products are really nice, although I didn’t try their skincare (except massage cream).
I wonder if I can actually try products on my face? My skin is kind of sensitive too…

I think it’s not essential to use the lotion to take off the cream….what I recommend is to use the cloth inside the box to wipe off. Then, use water to clean your face (like my dry old skin, I don’t need to wash face again. haha…really dry)

I think i’ll check the new pallette of eye shadow…..I like 02. 2007’s 01 is also great and attractive. It’s a pity I didn’t get it. (There’s a Xmas edition of 01 and it’s absolutely fabulous!!)
The lipstick has caught my eye too….hard to choose!!

40% is really too expensive for me….I got to leave budget for other brands (Aesop, P&J, RMK, Shu Uemura)
Hope my target items wilil be affordable!

Hi Ko-Chin,

You are right that it didn’t require another lotion to take off the massage lotion. A damp cloth would usually do.

At the counter, you can usually try out the products on your face if any of the staff is available. There is a small area at the counter where customers can sit down and have a mini makeover.

Have fun in London. Let me know if you get things from SUQQU and what you think of them.

Thank you for stopping by again! :)
