Chanel‘s Fleurs de Printemps is the star item of the brand’s spring 2021 makeup collection. I liked the look of the product in the initial images of the collection I came across on-line. The blusher shade (on the right) appealed to me, and so did the floral motifs on the product. Having had good experiences with Chanel’s blushers, I decided to get it.
Chanel Fleurs de Printemps (シャネル フルール ドゥ プランタン/ 香奈兒 花釀雙色頰彩盤, limited edition, £52) is marketed as a blusher and highlighter duo. The two shades in this product are:
- medium-depth peachy pink, lightly-to-moderately (towards moderately) pigmented, satiny with a touch of very fine shimmer
- light-to-medium (towards light) medium-toned pink, lightly pigmented, with warm-toned (subtly gold-toned) pearlescence and multi-hued shimmer
Both shades are easy to apply and blend, and they both have a good staying power.
The peachy pink goes on slightly cooler-toned than it looks in the pan. (It can look a little orange-toned in the pan, but it doesn’t look orange-toned when worn.) It has a skin-like satiny finish with just a touch of glow. This finish and the subtly warm hue create a very natural look for the cheeks.
The light-to-medium pink also goes on slightly cooler-toned than it looks in the pan. It is marketed as a highlighter but it is pink-toned enough and pigmented enough to work as a highlighting blusher for those with a light or light-to-medium complexion. The finish is quite pearly and shimmery. It can slightly emphasize the appearance of pores, but this is not a huge issue for me.
When the light-to-medium pink is layered on top of the peachy pink, it adds pearlescence and shimmer to the cheeks but doesn’t alter the color of the peachy pink too much. The overall look is more or less the same when I try mixing the two shades before application.
The decorative floral motifs on the two shades last reasonably well and don’t disappear too quickly.
The product comes with a semi-circular and slightly concave brush. It can be stored inside the case (with a plastic separator between the powder and the brush). I haven’t used it, but the hair feels decently dense and soft.
Between the two shades, I prefer the peachy pink. I like its skin-like finish, and the shade looks fresh and natural on me. Even though I like the soft pink hue of the highlighter, the finish is a little too pearly and shimmery for me. (I have to use it light-handedly as I generally prefer highlighters with subtler finishes.) I did go for this product mainly for the blusher shade, so I am very pleased that it works well for me.
