Recently, I have been drawn to warm-toned blushers with slightly more muted and dustier hues that go with some of my eyeshadow palettes with very warm-toned shades (such as Visée’s Glossy Rich Eyes in PK-3 Burgundy and SUQQU’s Designing Color Eyes in 128 Hiakari). One of the blushers I have been experimenting with is Chanel‘s Joues Contraste in 370 Élégance.
Chanel Joues Contraste in 370 Élégance (シャネル ジュ コントゥラスト 370 エレガンス/ 香奈兒 圓形腮紅 370 優雅, £35) was released in spring 2017. It is a muted warm-toned cinnamon red with a light-to-moderate pigmentation level. It has a pearly finish with soft shimmer. (The pearlescence has a pronounced warm-gold tone, and the shimmer is multi-hued.) It is very easy to apply and blend, and it has a good staying power.
It appears to be a light warm beige in the pan, but it goes on considerably darker and much more reddish. Despite the difference, it looks fairly muted and subdued on the face. I can be quite liberal with it, and it almost seems that I can never over-apply it. (While it layers fairly well, it doesn’t build to an intense look.)
Even though it has quite a light-reflective finish (which puts it in the highlighting blusher category), it only emphasizes the appearance of pores very slightly (which is not an issue for me). I think this is mainly down to the fact that the finish (a combination of gold pearlescence and multi-hued shimmer) is fairly complex and nuanced. (A flat (one-dimensional) pearly or frosty finish is less forgiving.)
I am glad that it goes on darker than it looks in the pan, since a light beige probably wouldn’t show up very much on my light-to-medium skin tone. (Even though I went for this blusher for a relatively low-key look for the cheeks, I still wanted some color to show up.) On the whole, it works very well for me as I like the tone of the color and the translucent quality. Just to be picky, I would prefer the finish to be slightly less pearly and slightly less shimmery.

Very pretty shade. Chanel always releases quite interesting shades of blusher.
Hi Lucy,
It is certainly a very lovely and wearable shade!
The quality of the shades in the Joues Contraste range that I have tried seems consistently good, and I hope that Chanel will continue to release new shades. (Some very cool-toned pink shades would be great!)
Thank you very much for posting your comment again, and be well!
