In 2017, I talked about Celvoke, a Japanese beauty brand launched in 2016. (See the post here.) I was keen to try something from the brand, and I decided to go for Comfy Blush in 01 Pink. Today I will be sharing my thoughts on it in my Stash Debut series.
Celvoke Comfy Blush in 01 Pink (セルヴォーク カムフィー ブラッシュ 01 ピンク/ Celvoke 玩色立體光感修容盤 01, ¥3500) was released in Japan in spring 2017 (when the Comfy Blush range was launched with three variations (in 01 Pink, 02 Orange and 03 Brown)). (Two more variations (in 04 Red Beige and 05 Pink Beige) were released in fall 2018.) The two shades in this palette are:
- light-to-medium medium-to-cool pink, lightly-to-moderately (towards moderately) pigmented, subtly glowy with a veil of fine shimmer
- porcelain white, lightly pigmented, softly pearly with a veil of fine shimmer
Both shades in this palette have multi-hued light-reflective particles. They are both very easy to apply and blend, and they both have a good staying power.
In the pan, the light-to-medium pink looks fairly pale with a subtle warm tone, but, when worn, it looks slightly darker, slightly more vibrant and slightly cooler-toned. It can be layered for more intensity fairly easily. The color (pigment) has a translucent quality, and I find it very appealing. The finish looks natural, and it is not too glowy or too shimmery for me.
The porcelain white looks very slightly pinkish in the pan, but the pink tone doesn’t show up on the face. The shade works fairly well as a highlighter and imparts a luminous glow on the face (which looks natural and doesn’t look overly pearly or shimmery). Its finish is subtly dimensional, and it doesn’t look flat or frosty. It can emphasize the appearance of pores very slightly, but this is not a huge issue for me.
Overall I like this palette. It creates a fresh and natural look suitable for spring and summer. The powder of both shades is beautifully soft (lightweight and almost airy) and blendable, and I particularly like the translucent quality of the light-to-medium pink.
