In 2018 and 2019, I reviewed Sana Excel‘s Skinny Rich Cheek in RC01 Pink Nectar, RC02 Pure Peach and RC03 Rose Peony. Today I will be sharing my thoughts on RC04 Shell Coral. (Here, “skinny” (“スキニー”) means “skin-like” or “skin-tonal”.)
Sana Excel Skinny Rich Cheek in RC04 Shell Coral (サナ エクセル スキニーリッチチーク RC04 シェルコーラル/ Sana Excel 絲緞光漾腮紅 RC04 珊瑚貝橙, ¥1500) was released in Japan in spring 2017. It is a light-to-medium pinkish peach with an above-medium pigmentation level, and it has a softly glowy finish with a hint of multi-hued shimmer. It is very easy to apply and blend, and it has a very good staying power.
It is fairly easy to create a subtle look with a relatively light-handed application. It is also easy to increase the color intensity and vibrancy with a couple more layers, and the vibrancy of the color lasts quite well.
It is the lightest shade among the four in the Skinny Rich Cheek range. Compared with the other three, it creates a softer look with more translucency (without compromising the clarity and the definition of color).
Overall I enjoy wearing RC04. Shade-wise, I like it as much as I like the other three in the range, and its peachy hue doesn’t look orange-toned on me. Among the four shades, it is the easiest to work with as I don’t have to be as careful to avoid over-applying it. With combinations of natural color tones and a skin-like finish, all the four shades create fresh and natural looks, but I do feel that RC04 is particularly wearable and user-friendly.
