Even though I prefer cool-toned blusher shades, I have been enjoying wearing most of the peach-toned blushers I got in the last few years. (Read my reviews of THREE’s Cheeky Chic Blush in 02 Sweet Revolution and Sweets Sweets’ Silky Chiffon Cheeks in 03 Peach Chiffon.) Today I will be sharing my thoughts on Chanel‘s Joues Contraste in 430 Foschia Rosa.
Chanel Joues Contraste in 430 Foschia Rosa (シャネル ジュ コントゥラスト 430 フォスキーア ローゼ/ 香奈兒 圓形腮紅 430, £35) was released in spring 2018. (I believe it is a regular shade in the UK, but it appears to be a limited-edition shade in some other countries.) It is a moderately-pigmented medium-depth pinkish peach with a satiny finish and a hint of fine multi-hued shimmer. It has a good staying power.
The application is pleasantly effortless. It is easy to create a sheer look that looks fresh and natural with sufficient color, and it is also easy to build up the color intensity (and maintain the evenness of the color during the process). For me, the effortless application is mostly down to the soft and lightweight feel of the powder and the ideal pigmentation level.
In the pan, it can look slightly orange-y under some lightings, but it goes on more pink-toned and doesn’t look orange-toned on me. Even though it looks quite bright and intense in the pan, it looks almost surprisingly natural on me (even when layered). Its satiny finish also looks very natural on me.
Color-wise, it is more intense than Joues Contraste in 76 Frivole and less so than THREE’s Cheeky Chic Blush in 02 Sweet Revolution. Also, Sweet Revolution is slightly more red-toned while Foschia Rosa is more pinkish.
When Chanel’s spring 2018 makeup collection was released, most of my attention was on Rouge Coco Gloss in 792 Aphrodite. I only swatched Foschia Rosa for the first time earlier this year, and I decided to get it soon afterwards. I am very glad that I went for it. Even though it is slightly less vibrant than how I wanted it to be, I am very pleased that it turns out to be a very wearable and flattering shade that is exceptionally easy to work with.
