Kanebo Coffret d’Or launched its sub-line, Coffret d’Or Gran, in fall/winter 2013. Today, in my Stash Debut series, I will be sharing my thoughts on Elegant Up Cheeks in 03 Rose from the line.
Kanebo Coffret d’Or Gran Elegant Up Cheeks in 03 Rose (カネボウ コフレドール グラン エレガントアップチークス 03 ローズ/ 佳麗寶 金炫光燦美魔 麗膚修容餅 03 玫瑰紅, ¥2700) was released in Japan in fall/winter 2014 (when the Elegant Up Cheeks range was launched with three variations (in 01 Pink, 02 Coral and 03 Rose)). The four shades in this palette are:
- off-white pink, lightly pigmented, velvety with virtually no shimmer
- light pink, lightly-to-moderately (towards lightly) pigmented, velvety with a slight hint of shimmer
- light-to-medium dusky peachy pink, lightly-to-moderately (towards lightly) pigmented, gently glowy with a slight hint of shimmer
- light-t0-medium medium-to-cool dusky rose pink, lightly-to-moderately (towards lightly) pigmented, softly glowy with a hint of shimmer
The three blusher shades on the left have multi-hued light-reflective particles. All of the four shades are very easy to apply and blend, and they all have a decently good staying power.
The off-white pink is designed to be used as a base underneath the blusher shades. According to the line, it is formulated to help smooth out the appearance of pores and brighten up the complexion. For me, it definitely achieves these two aims. Its off-white hue fairly subtly (but effectively) brightens up the cheek areas and its velvety finish creates a flattering soft-focus effect. (The shade doesn’t leave the skin looking unnaturally whitish or pinkish.) It works so well on me that I also apply it on other parts of my face as a setting powder.
The brush that comes with the product works well with this shade. Its hair is fairly soft, dense and bouncy, and it helps create a pore-smoothing effect.
The three blusher shades are designed to be mixed together before application. When they are mixed, they show up as a light-to-medium medium-toned muted rose pink with a gently glowy finish and a hint of shimmer. The color is quite elegant and low-key, and the finish is also fairly understated.
Overall, this palette works very well for me. As all the four shades in the palette are fairly lightly pigmented, I don’t have to worry too much about over-application. The off-white pink is a very pleasant surprise, and the mixture of the three blusher shades is very wearable. The look this palette creates is soft and demure, and it would suit most occasions.
