I reviewed Cezanne‘s Silk Touch Cheek in 01 Pink in my Stash Debut series in 2013, and, today, I will be focusing on the brand’s Mix Color Cheek in 01 Pink.
Cezanne Mix Color Cheek in 01 Pink (セザンヌ ミックスカラーチーク 01 ピンク系/ Cezanne 戀愛粉嫩修容組 01 粉紅色系, ¥680) was released in Japan in fall 2013. (The Mix Color Cheek range was launched with three variations (in 01 Pink, 02 Coral and 03 Orange) then. Later on, the brand released 10 Highlight in summer 2016, 04 Rose in fall 2017 and 20 Shading in spring 2018.) The four shades in this variation are (anticlockwise from top left):
- cream white, lightly-to-moderately (towards moderately) pigmented, pearly
- pale-to-light pink, lightly-to-moderately (towards lightly) pigmented, softly pearly
- medium-depth pink, lightly-to-moderately (towards moderately) pigmented, subtly glowy
- light peach, lightly-to-moderately (towards lightly) pigmented, softly pearly
All the four shades have multi-hued light-reflective particles. They are all very blendable and have a fairly good staying power.
The four shades are designed to be mixed together before application and to be used individually. Here are the recommended application methods from the brand:
(Method 1 is also printed on the back of the case of the product.)
(Method 4: The four shades can be used individually.
The lightest shade can be used as a highlighting shade.)

When the four shades are mixed together, they show up as a light-to-medium medium-to-cool pink with a softly pearly finish and a hint of shimmer. As the medium-depth pink is the only shade in this palette with a substantial color depth, the color from the mixture of the four shades is slightly on the light side. It is a natural shade for me, and it has a touch of translucency that looks appealing. The softly pearly finish can slightly emphasize the appearance of pores, but this is not a huge issue for me.
I have also tried mixing the pale-to-light pink, the light peach and the medium-depth pink, and the mixture of the three shades shows up as a light-to-medium (towards medium) medium-toned pink with a subtly pearly finish. I prefer the less pearly finish from this mixture, but I slightly prefer the cooler tone from the mixture of the four shades. (The cream white goes on cooler than it looks in the pan, and it has a slight hint of cool-toned pink undertone.)
I have tried using the medium-depth pink and the cream white individually as well. I like using the medium-depth pink on its own because it shows up nicely on my light-t0-medium skin tone and because it has a subtly glowy finish that doesn’t look pearly. The cream white can work individually as a highlighting shade, but I need to be fairly light-handed with it. Its finish is pearlier than those of the other three shades, and it can have a pore-emphasizing effect.
As the four shades are lightly-to-moderately pigmented, I don’t worry too much about over-application. (For the colors to show up, I actually often have to load the blusher brush with a lot of powder.) If you like blushers that are quite pigmented, then this palette may not work for you.
Overall I like the natural colors this palette offers (both individual colors and mixtures of different colors), and the looks it creates are generally soft and translucent. I think I will continue to experiment with different ways of mixing the colors in this palette.
