As I mentioned in my review of Paul & Joe‘s Eye Color Set CS in 087 Peau d’Âne, I didn’t manage to review the items I purchased from the brand’s fall 2013 makeup collection at the time. I did say then that I would review them, and today I will be sharing my thoughts on Lipstick CS in 082 Far, Far Away and Lipstick Case CS 011.
Paul & Joe Lipstick CS in 082 Far, Far Away (ポール & ジョー リップスティック CS 082, limited edition, ¥2000 in Japan (refill only), £14.00 in the UK (refill only)) was released as part of the brand’s fall 2013 Fairytale makeup collection. It is a light medium-toned pink with a milky undertone. (It goes on cooler than it looks in the tube.) It is lightly pigmented and imparts a glossy sheen on the lips with relatively sparse multi-hued shimmer. The color and the glossy finish have a decent staying power while the shimmer has a fairy good staying power.
It is quite sheer and I need to layer it repeatedly for the color to show up on my lips. With a couple of layers, it creates a subtle sheen on the lips. The finish becomes slightly glossier with additional layers.
The shade is slightly on the pale side for me, but, on the whole, it looks natural on me. I do feel that some of the shimmering particles can look a little too large for me (especially when the color and the glossy finish start to wear off before the shimmer does).
Paul & Joe Lipstick Case CS 011 (ポール & ジョー リップスティック ケース CS 011, limited edition, ¥1000 in Japan, £7 in the UK) was also released in fall 2013. It features an abstract animal print. I don’t usually like animal prints, but I think this print looks reasonably appealing.
Overall, Lipstick CS in 082 works decently well for me. I do like its natural medium-toned pink hue, but I wish it were slightly more pigmented (and perhaps slightly darker). I would also prefer the shimmering particles to be a little finer.
