Paul & Joe released Glossy Lip Color as part of the brand’s fall 2013 makeup collection. Ten shades were launched at the time. All of them are still available and there has not been any new shade. I went for 08 Eglantine and I will be reviewing it today.

Paul & Joe Glossy Lip Color in 08 Eglantine (ポール & ジョー グロッシー リップ カラー 08 野バラ/ Paul & Joe 巴黎訂製唇蜜 08 沉穩粉, ¥2800 in Japan, £20 in the UK) is a warm rose with a medium-to-slightly-dark color depth. It is moderately pigmented and imparts a watery gloss on the lips with no shimmer. The color generally stays even on the lips, and the lasting power is fairly good.
Color-wise, it is similar to SUQQU’s Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist in 09 Zakuroseki but it is very slightly more beige-toned. It suits my complexion well, but it can look slightly too dark on me if I apply a thick layer.
As a liquid lipstick, it is not as pigmented or opaque as Jill Stuart’s Forever Juicy Oil Rouge in 03 Peach Saunter. This is not necessarily a bad thing. The product’s opacity level is considerably more adjustable and this can be appealing to some people.
The applicator has a sponge side and a plastic side. The plastic side is concave and is designed to layer the product efficiently, while the sponge side is convex and is designed for precise applications. Use the sponge side of the applicator if you only want to apply a thin layer of the product.
Compared with Jill Stuart’s Forever Juicy Oil Rouge in 03 Peach Saunter, which is fun and vibrant and is perhaps not an everyday color for me, Paul & Joe’s Glossy Lip Color in 08 Eglantine is more understated and elegant and is suitable for most occasions. While I like both, 08 Eglantine is probably the one I will use more frequently.
