Hacci seems to have been getting more media coverage in Japan in the last few years. (See my profile on the brand here.) I was interested in the brand’s hand creams and lip moisturizers, and I decided to go for Hand Cream in Happening.
Hacci Hand Cream in Happening (Hacci ハンドクリーム ハプニング/ Hacci 蜂采護手霜 (邂逅), 25g, ¥2500) was relaunched in January 2015 with two other scents/versions (Mademoiselle Hacci (with SPF 14) and Petal x Petal). (These three scents were available before the relaunch.) Two new ones (Le Meurice and Pink Dot) were released in September.
Some of its moisturizing ingredients are limnanthes alba (meadowfoam) seed oil, squalane, glycerin, propylene glycol and beeswax. It contains tocopherol (vitamin E) as an antioxidant and glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract as an anti-irritant. It also contains honey (Hacci’s star ingredient), which functions as an antioxidant and an anti-irritant.
It is alcohol-free. It contains parabens and fragrance.
(What I have is the previous version of Happening (before the relaunch). The tube has a plain white cap, not the ridged gold cap that you see on Hacci’s website. The ingredient list on the outer box of the product I have is the same as that of the relaunched version on Hacci’s website. Even though this doesn’t necessarily mean the formulations of the two are identical (the proportions of the ingredients may have been tweaked), I do presume the relaunch mainly involved repackaging the products.)
It has a creamy consistency and spreads fairly well. It is absorbed quite quickly and doesn’t leave the hands greasy. It has a powdery floral-based scent that is not too sweet.
I find it to be reasonably moisturizing. It hydrates and softens the cuticle areas quite well, but it doesn’t relieve the feel of dryness or tightness of my hands particularly effectively.
On the whole, it is a decent hand cream but, for me, there are more competent products. It could be an option for you if you are looking for a portable and non-greasy hand cream to be carried around in your handbag.
