Earlier I reviewed SUQQU‘s Balancing Cheeks N in 04 Mizuhanamoya from the brand’s spring 2015 makeup collection, and today we will look at Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist in EX-16 Momobara from the same collection.
SUQQU Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist in EX-16 Momobara (スック クリーミィ グロウ リップスティック モイスト EX-16 桃薔薇/ SUQQU 豐盈光澤脣膏 (保濕型) EX-16 桃薔薇, limited edition, ¥5000 in Japan, £27 in the UK) is one of the three shades of Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist in the collection. It is a moderately-pigmented cool-toned rose pink with a medium depth. It is virtually shimmer-less, and its finish is between satiny and half-matte. It glides smoothly and feels fairly moisturizing on the lips. The lasting power is good.
(Not all shades of Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist have the same finish, and SUQQU uses different terms to describe their finishes on its website. “Shine” refers to a shimmery finish, “tsuya” (ツヤ) refers to a glossy finish, and “veil glow” refers to a half-matte finish. EX-16 Momobara is in the “veil glow” category. (The shades in the “tsuya” and “veil glow” categories generally have little or no shimmer.))
SUQQU doesn’t often release pink lipstick shades with this amount of blue tone, so EX-16 Momobara caught my attention very early on. Also, we don’t often see girlie lipstick colors like this from the brand. The color is fresh, spring-like, feminine and fairly vibrant, and I like the subtly satiny finish.
For me, part of the appeal of EX-16 Momobara is its rarity. Also, I quite enjoy seeing a girlie pink shade reveal itself from SUQQU’s very low-key and elegant all-black lipstick case as I like the sense of contrast. For the sake of variety, I would certainly love to see more cool-toned shades from the brand in the future.
