Earlier, I talked about Paul & Joe‘s Makeup Collection 2014 in 001 Little Star and Pressed Powder T in 001 Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star for holiday 2014. Today I will share my thoughts on Hand Cream R from the collection.
The floral print on Paul & Joe’s Face & Eye Color CS in 073 42nd Street & Lipstick C in 072 SoHo from the fall 2011 makeup collection is among my favorite prints from the brand, so I was excited to see it on Hand Cream R from the fall/winter 2014 bodycare and fragrance collection. (In the UK, the three Hand Creams are part of the holiday 2014 collection. The two Fragrance Hair & Body Mists are not available in the UK).
Between the two limited-edition Hand Creams (Hand Cream E and Hand Cream R), I preferred the more floral-scented Hand Cream R. (I liked Hand Cream N (regular item) as well and I might consider getting it later on.)
Hand Cream R (40g, £11) has a relatively light cream consistency. It is easy to spread and is absorbed decently quickly. Some of the moisturizing ingredients in this product are butylene glycol, petrolatum, mineral oil (paraffinum liquidum), jojoba seed oil, hydrogenated coconut oil and meadowfoam seed oil.
It contains alcohol, which is third on the ingredient list. Obviously alcohol is not an ideal ingredient in a hand cream (especially with this amount). I think it is probably used in this product to modify the overall consistency and to help diffuse the fragrance.
The cream is delicately scented with a mixed floral fragrance from rose, jasmine and lily of the valley. The scent is pleasant and not too sweet. In terms of both consistency and fragrance, it reminds me of Vecua Honey’s Wonder Honey Honey Dew Hand Cream (Flower Gelée).
I have been using it for a few weeks alongside Garnier’s Hand Repair Intensive Restoring Hand Cream. It works reasonably well and I like the non-greasy feel. However, I wish it were just a little more emollient for this time of year. (I think the amount of alcohol prevents it from being able to leave a more emollient feel on the skin.) I think it will work considerably better in the warmer months.
As a limited-edition hand cream, it works out fine for me. I will enjoy it while it lasts, and I won’t feel overly disappointed when it is finished. (If it were too marvelous, I would either think it is too precious to use or feel the urge to buy a couple more.) The lovely-looking tube and box will last a little longer than the cream itself.
(As far as I remember (from the ingredient lists), the three Hand Creams in the collection have different formulations. (It is not just a matter of switching the fragrances.) I think one of the other two either is alcohol-free or has little alcohol.)
