Shiseido Maquillage will release its spring 2015 makeup collection in Japan on January 21st. The collection includes:
– Dramatic Mood Veil (2 variations)
– Dramatic Mood Potion (35 ml)
Maquillage released Dramatic Rouge in November, and the launch, featuring a new look for the line, started the line’s renewal. Apart from new product packagings, the renewal features new concepts and product designs. For spring 2015, Maquillage is highlighting the concept of the Mood Zone, which includes the cheeks, the under-eye areas and the temples.
According to Shiseido, Dramatic Mood Veil is designed to enhance the impression one leaves on others. The shades in the palette go on different areas of the Mood Zone (except the two shades on the right, which are mixed together before application). The powder has a “creamy gloss” finish, which resembles the natural glow of the face.
The product comes with a specially designed double-ended “dome-shaped sponge & brush”. The dome-shaped sponge is used to apply the main blusher shade in the middle (with a light stamping motion), and the brush is used to apply the other shades.
The idea of the Mood Zone and the way Dramatic Mood Veil is applied remind me of Emotional Aura Pact from Est. Emotional Aura Pact is designed for the eye areas and Dramatic Mood Veil is mainly for the cheeks, but the application areas of the two products do overlap (the under-eye areas and the temples).
Dramatic Mood Potion also reflects the concept of impression enhancement. According to Shiseido, it is both an eau de parfum and a body oil. It can be used as a bodycare product, a haircare product and a fragrance. It features these fragrance notes:
Top notes: bergamot, jasmine, grapefruit, cardamom, peach, apple, pear, patchouli, raspberry, apricot
Middle notes: Bulgarian rose, jasmine, lily of the valley, osmanthus, olive flower, violet
Base notes: sandalwood, cedarwood, iris, saffron, fruity musk, vanilla, amber
I mentioned earlier that I was looking forward to seeing how the new packaging design would be applied to compact cases, and I am certainly not disappointed. The case of Dramatic Mood Veil looks opulent and glamorous, and the product itself looks promising. Also, I like the fact that, even with just two products, the collection covers makeup, bodycare, haircare and fragrance, and I think the collection carries out its concept very effectively.
