After purples for spring 2011 and blues for fall 2011 (as well as warm-toned and cool-toned neutrals, which have been taking turns to be on-trend in the last few seasons), we have green in its various hues for spring 2012.
Givenchy‘s spring 2012 Instant Bucolique makeup collection features a strong visual (above) and makes a statement with a fresh and spring-like minty green in Le Prisme Eyes Quartet in 79 Bucolic Blossoms. A very similar shade is seen in Venis Please in 178 Bucolic Lily.

One of my favorite green-based eyeshadow palettes for spring 2012 is Dior‘s 5 Couleurs Garden Edition in Garden Pastels from the brand’s spring 2012 Garden Party makeup collection. It includes a warm yellow-toned olive green and a cool turquoise-toned green. The former is a more wearable green for me, while the latter is a guilty pleasure. (Cool-toned greens are also seen in Dior’s 3 Couleurs Smoky in 461 Smoky Garden.)
Similar warm-toned greens are featured in NARS‘ Duo Eyeshadow in 3087 Paramaribo, and similar cool-toned greens can be found in Lancôme‘s Ombre Absolue Palette Lumessence in C60.
Apart from the two palettes above, Paul & Joe‘s sage-toned Face & Eye Color CS in 078 Purr-fect from the brand’s spring 2012 Meow! makeup collection is another tone-on-tone green palette.
It is also interesting to see all the various shades of green (pastel green, sage green, leafy green and verdant green) and which other colors are alongside them in eyeshadow palettes.

Last but not least, GN-1 of Kanebo Kate‘s new Real Create Eyes for spring 2012 is used on the brand’s spokesperson Kimura Kaela and featured in the how-to video.
It is a coincidence that I started a mini green phase last year as I decided to go for Visée’s Glam Shade Eyes in GR-5 and Visée’s Glam Glow Eyes in GR-4 (my first two tone-on-tone green palettes). I have to say that, for me, greens (even warm greens, which suit me more) are not as easy to wear as pinks, purples, or warm neutrals, but they are a welcome diversion (and a challenge) from the safer shades.
