I’m curious about the Fast Skin Adjuster. What exactly is it? Is it supposed to be used as a regular part of skincare regimen or just occasionally? What is it supposed to do for skin?

I’ve finally decided to buy a Lunasol blusher (Coloring Cheeks), but I wanted to ask if you think the brushes are worth it? I may get one for portability if it’s good quality, otherwise I think I will skip it.

A pleasure reading, as always. Have a good weekend!

Hi Leila,

Thank you very much! I hope you are having a good weekend as well! :)

In some Japanese brands (particularly those that feature elaborate skincare routines), there are products that are used after cleansing and before toning. They are supposed to prep the skin for subsequent products and help them absorb better. They are generally called penetrators or inductors, and I usually call them pre-toners. (They usually have a toner or a light-serum consistency.) Fast Skin Adjuster is one of these products.

According to Lunasol’s website, it is part of the daily routine and it is used in both daytime and night-time. But I suppose it can also be optional.

Personally, I don’t think it is necessary to use these products. I haven’t seen the ingredient list of Fast Skin Adjuster, but some of the pre-toners I have seen have quite a lot of alcohol. They can dry out the skin and therefore create the illusion that subsequent products are absorbed faster.

I have Lunasol’s Contrasting Cheeks and I bought the brush and the case to go with the refill. I think the quality of the brush is good. It is soft and easy to use. I think it is worth the money if you would like to have a good-quality travel-friendly blusher brush.

You can see my post on my Contrasting Cheeks in 03 Light Orange if you are interested:

I haven’t tried Coloring Cheeks. Do let me know what you think later on!

Thank you for posting your comment again! :)

The Fast Skin Adjuster sounds very much like what the Shiseido softeners claim to do, by balancing your skin’s pH levels after cleansing, therefore helping subsequent products work better. Only, you don’t use a separate toner afterwards, so it’s not a pre-toner.

Actually, it seems to work rather like a pre-moisturizer (getting confusing now, right?) since it was the only thing that got rid of the dryness of my skin (strangely enough, it contains a lot of alcohol, which I avoid, but rich creams didn’t work). This somehow makes even light lotions work better (compared to applying them without softener – without, skin would still be dry).

I once read a very good article on the Japanese skin care regimen (including the double-cleansing and double-moisturizing) and it seems the role of toners tend to have this sort of purpose. Try as I might, I can’t find the article anymore.

I would really like Western brands to come up with a similar type of product, more readily available and cheaper too (I’m not in the habit of spending £20+ on a single skin care product). Actually, I would rather I didn’t have to use this extra product and could stick to my past routine, far simpler.

Thank you for your reply :)

Hi Leila,

You are very welcome! :)

I do use a toner on a daily basis. (I have been using Lancôme’s Tonique Douceur (which is alcohol-free) for a few years.) Even though I don’t think toners are generally a must for everyone, I do think it has been benefiting my skin. It infuses the skin with hydration before the moisturizer is applied to help seal it in.

(Objectively, as you know, for many reasons, I do advise against skincare products that have a lot of alcohol. (Personally, they tend not to work for me anyway.))

I do have a double-cleansing routine on the days when I wear makeup (even if it is just foundation). The products I use (currently RMK Cleansing Oil N and Simple Moisturising Foaming Facial Wash (you can see the links on the right sidebar if you are interested)) cleanse effectively but don’t dry out my skin.

Thank you for posting your comment again! :)

The palette looks intriguing! I’ve been looking at concealer palettes and wondering how this would compare to the Laura Mercier palette. Would love a review of the palette if you ever get a chance. Lovely blog and so informative!

Hi Jane,

Thank you very much! :)

If I have a chance to test it out, I will certainly write a review on it. If you decide to try it, do let me know what you think as well. :)

(Just for your reference, the top shade is powder-based and it is used to set the concealer. I suppose this offers something that Laura Mercier’s Secret Camouflage doesn’t have.)

Thank you for stopping by again! :)

Hi PJ,

Very excited about this collection already, I have a question to ask you.

The under eye concealer, is that to use in conjunction with the eye concealer palette?

A good release for Fall this year, don’t you think? ;)

Hi Lisa,

It is certainly a nice and concise collection that complements Lunasol’s existing base makeup and skincare items.

As for Under Eyes Concealer, I am fairly sure that it is used on its own without Palette Concealer (which would be for blemish marks and other minor imperfections).

Thank you for stopping by again! :)
