Since 2004, Stella McCartney has been releasing a limited-edition Sheer Stella each summer to complement the original Stella fragrance. I love all scents from the Stella family, and, for me, the new Sheer Stella each year marks the beginning of the warmer months.
Like Sheer Stella 2010, Sheer Stella 2011 incorporates organic roses. According to Stella McCartney, this year’s edition features organic roses grown in the mountains of Persia and the rose themselves carry a fruity top note.
Top notes: green apple, frosted lemon, Bulgarian rose
Middle notes: peony, rose
Base note: amber
As I mentioned before, various editions of Sheer Stella generally smell very similar. They feature a classic yet modern rose scent elevated by the effervescent fruity notes and beautifully deepened by amber. But I have found that Sheer Stella 2011 has an ethereal and almost aquatic feel, which appeals to me a lot.
I also like the design of this year’s bottle. The transparent roses have an X-ray effect, which shows off the layered petals. The clear bottle and the clear perfume (not pink-tinted as in Sheer Stella 2006 and 2007) go very well with the transparent roses. After three years of a white cap, Sheer Stella 2011 goes back to a black cap, which I prefer.
For the first time, the box for Sheer Stella is not in the same octagonal shape as that of the fragrance bottle.
This is another very collectible item from Stella McCartney’s fragrance line, especially if you are a fan of Stella McCartney and/or a fan of rose-toned fragrances. Meanwhile, with the more intense Stella Rose Absolute being officially discontinued, I am anticipating a new intense version of Stella (apart from Stella Pure Parfum) in the next few seasons. We’ll wait and see.
The limited-edition Stella McCartney Sheer Stella 2011 is available in eau de toilette in 100ml.
