Here is a look at some of the items from YSL‘s spring 2014 makeup collection. The collection features fresh vibrant pinks and deep violets. The seasonal limited-edition collector’s item is Palette Flower Crush Face (called Rosy Blush Collector Palette in the UK, picture below).

Here is a quick look at some of the items from YSL‘s fall 2013 makeup collection that have caught my attention. The new City Drive Classy Palette (left) features easy-to-wear medium-to-warm neutrals while the new City Drive Arty Palette (right) includes vibrant colors.

For spring 2013, among many fairly colorful makeup collections from various brands, pink and green seem to be two of the trend colors. There is a range of pink hues, from soft peachy pinks to dramatic fuchsia pinks. On the other hand, green has been a key shade for some time (spring 2012 and fall 2012). The palettes from Mary Quant (above) and YSL (below) include both shades.

Here is a look at some of the highlights of YSL‘s spring 2013 Arty Stone makeup collection. The two limited-edition star items of the collection are the Y Facet Couleur Palette (Pure Chromatics in 14) and the Y Facet Lumière Palette (both below).
I particularly like the mint-green Volupté Sheer Candy in 11 Frosted Mint. The two items in violet (Rouge Pur Couture Vernis in 30 Mauve Fusain and Long Lasting Eye Pencil N in 16 Ultra Violet) also caught my attention.

Dior’s holiday 2012 Grand Bal makeup collection features chic gold-toned neutrals for the eyes and seductive reds for the lips and nails. The Grand Bal palette, in a sleek gold case, also includes a gold-toned eyeshadow, and I like the look of the Diorific items in the gold packaging as well. The collection has a glamorous and opulent feel.

After YSL released Gloss Pur in 11 Icy Effect in summer 2011, I didn’t think there would be another blue-tinted lip gloss from the brand anytime soon. However, YSL’s holiday 2012 Northern Lights makeup collection, with an unusual blue color theme for the festive season, features Golden Gloss in 55 Arctic Blue. (It is called Blue Iceberg in Japan and perhaps other countries.) Yes, I had to have it.

Here is a quick look at YSL‘s holiday 2012 makeup collection. What has caught my attention is, of course, the blue-tinted lip gloss (above, Golden Gloss in 55 Blue Iceberg). Meanwhile, the two seasonal limited-edition star items of the collection are Boréal Face Palette and the blue-toned Boréal Eye Palette (below).

Purple and green have emerged as the dominant colors for fall 2012. Continuing from the spring 2012 makeup trend, green is still a key player. On the other hand, I am glad that purple is back on trend.

For YSL‘s fall 2012 makeup collection, the brand has released Palette Couture (above) as the star limited-edition item. The three-toned palette is mainly used as a blusher but it can also contour and highlight the complexion. The rest of the collection features green as one of the key shades.
