One of Sofina Aube Couture‘s main aims is to make makeup application as easy and straightforward as possible, and it is not difficult to see how the line tries to achieve this with its product designs. (See my post on Aube Couture’s user-friendliness.) One good example of this is the design of the line’s eyeshadow palettes (Designing Eyes, Designing Shine Eyes, Designing Impression Eyes and Designing Impression Eyes II). The colors in the palettes are arranged in a way to show where they are applied on the eye areas. In the same vein, the line’s Designing Puff Cheek, launched in summer 2013, attempts to make blusher and highlighter application quick and simple.

Last fall, Elégance presented an updated look with Nouvelle Eyes. The new packaging, while in keeping with the brand’s glamorous gold color theme, is sleeker than what we saw from the more ornate Phantom Eyes and Aurora Storm, which were first released in 2009. For spring 2014, there are three additional variations of Nouvelle Eyes and the new look is also seen on the new Sleek Face cream blushers.

In the last few years, Kao Sofina Primavista has been releasing two limited-edition powder foundation cases each year, one for spring/summer and one for fall/winter. These cases generally don’t catch my attention as much as those from Raycious (Sofina’s previous base makeup range), but the upcoming Limited Compact Case (¥1050) for spring/summer 2014 stands out for me. Shades of pink are joined by fresh aqua blue and lime yellow, and the case looks colorful and cheerful.

Purple is a versatile color. It can be cute, sensual, sophisticated, vibrant, and edgy. It has also been one of my favorite colors for many years. Kesalan Patharan seems to be going through a packaging revamp, and its summer 2013 makeup collection, with eight variations of Cheek Color, really caught my attention. I like many of the color variations as well as the gold cases. The collection also features a Cheek Brush, but the double-ended brush in the compact should be fairly useful.
