It doesn’t seem that long ago when Sonia Rykiel released a beautiful blue-themed collection for summer 2009. For this summer, the brand focuses on slightly warmer shades. I like the vibrant hues of Gloss D’Été as well as the golden-sun color of the packaging.

In contrast to Sonia Rykiel’s warm colors, Majolica Majorca’s summer 2010 color scheme is a lot cooler, With cool pink and lilac, it is a girlie and romantic collection. The eyeshadow palette with pale pink and soft lilac is quite appealing to me.
8th: Jill Stuart

I really like my Mix Blush Compact (in 01 Baby Blush), and Jill Stuart has released many variations to satisfy Jill Stuart fans. The two limited-edition variations for summer 2010 feature soft colors and floral prints on the powder, and they just look so pretty.
(Jill Stuart will release a new range of blushers for fall 2010. See images on the Voce blog.)
7th: Anna Sui

Anna Sui’s summer 2010 makeup collection features colorful psychedelic patterns on the packaging. I very nearly bought Glittering Eye Color in 002, but I decided not to in the end. (I do like the cute packaging, but the cream texture is not really my preferred texture for eyeshadows (or for most makeup items).)
The countdown continues in Part 2.

6. Majolica Majorca

I have not been paying a lot of attention to Majolica Majorca’s seasonal collections in the last couple of years, as the new items generally don’t excite me. But the new Jewelling Eyes, featuring a nice range of palettes, did catch my eye. The color combinations are on the basic side, but the wearability of them will always appeal to me.
5. Maquillage
(image from www.shiseido.co.jp/mq)
Maquillage’s summer 2009 collection is, in a way, a typical summer makeup collection from Japanese brands, with colorful eyeliners and mascaras as well as a collection of nail colors. Two more Eyes Creator 3D palettes (limited editions) join the five launched in spring. The one in GD831 (left in photo), among all the seven palettes, appeals to me the most. I also like the limited-edition gold and silver cases for the two palettes. (I wish they were not limited editions so that I could have more time to think about whether to get GD831…)

Majolica Majorca will release the summer 2008 collection in Japan on April 26th. The collection includes:
Powder Heat Metallic: 1 shade (limited edition)
Lash Heat Metallic: 1 shade (limited edition)
My last Majolica Majorca purchase was about two years ago. Since then, I haven’t been impressed by their seasonal releases. The summer 2008 collection is still not cutting it for me…
Interestingly, I haven’t bought anything from Majolica Majorca since Lavshuca was launched in spring 2006. At least for the past two years, I think Lavshuca does cute a lot better than Majolica Majorca…
Updated on March 29, 2008:
Here is another photo of the Majolica Majorca summer 2008 collection, which includes the three limited-edition nail colors.

(You can tell that I love my Japanese cosmetics…)
Most of you who read my blog certainly know that I have a passion for Japanese cosmetics. While I do try to keep a balance between western and Japanese cosmetics on my blog, I do think, for me, Japanese cosmetics items do better on my scoreboard in most areas.
If you would like to look through my posts related to Japanese cosmetics, I have made it a bit easier for you by adding the category “All About Japanese Cosmetics“ on the sidebar (under “Read by Topics”). As of now, there are 96 posts under this category, and the number will certainly grow week by week.
Please enjoy!
