I have got Coffret D’Or’s Jewelicious Eyes in 05 Purple Amethyst (from spring 2010) and Color Mixing Eyes in 01 Orange Brown Mix (from summer 2009).

I will review the Jewelicious Eyes palette first later on since it is this season’s item.

It is hard to believe that 2009 is coming to an end. Before we celebrate the arrival of 2010, it is now time to present my favorite holiday 2009 collections.

10. Coffret D’Or

(image from www.nikkei.co.jp)

For me, 2009 is another good year for Kanebo’s Coffret D’Or and the line is still as exciting as it was last year. This year’s LuxuLight Collection palettes contain eyeshadows and lip colors, like last year’s The Party Makeup Collection. The colors are housed in a lovely case with a festive vibe.

9. Aube Couture

(image from fanet.jp)

Another makeup palette for eyes and lips. The Designing Jewel Compacts feature four variations to choose from, which are more than the usual one or two from holiday makeup palettes from Japanese beauty lines. The eyeshadows are arranged in the case in the same way as those in the usual eye palettes (Designing Eyes) from the line.

8. Sonia Rykiel

(image from fanet.jp)

I like Sonia Rykiel’s signature multi-colored stripes and it is nice to see them on Palettes Yeux Couleurs. The collection also includes two makeup sets, both including purple packaging for the makeup items and a purple makeup case.

7. Paul & Joe

(image from www.paul-joe-beaute.com)

Paul & Joe also brought out purple packaging for holiday 2009. The purple and gold cases are both on-trend and glamorous. Paul & Joe’s makeup is known for wearable colors, and most of these items are certainly very easy to wear. (See my review of some of the items in the collection here.) The collection also includes the new Lip Lacquer, the re-launched fragrances (Blanc and Bleu), the new bodycare items, and Cosmetic Pouch III, which are regular items.

– Lasting Power Stay Fix UV (primer, SPF 25, PA++)
– Oil Control Pact powder

There is no new powder foundation from Coffret D’Or for spring 2010. The foundation case towards the top of the image is the spring 2010 edition of the powder foundation case.

– Please check out this blog post for swatches of Coffret D’Or’s Jewelcious Eyes palettes for spring 2010. 02 Pink Topaz, 04 Amber Beige, and 05 Purple Amethyst have caught my attention.

Rouge Deluxe has posted a link to this blog post, which has photos of Lunasol’s spring 2010 eyeshadow palettes. The yellow/pink/lilac palette is my favorite at the moment, and it looks quite similar to Sheer Contrast Eyes in Lavender Coral from spring 2008.

Coffret D’Or‘s official website has been updated with information on the line’s holiday 2009 and spring 2010 collections.

What I am really looking forward to is the new Jewelcious Eyes series. The color combinations are what we would expect from Coffret D’Or, but the quality of Coffret D’Or’s eye palettes has been generally very good and it is very likely that I will try one palette from this series.

The five variations are:

– Citrian Green
– Pink Topaz
– Crystalish Blue
– Amber Beige
– Purple Amethyst

I also adore the 2010 design of the eye palette compacts. I like the fact that the concept and the motif have remained the same since the launch of the line but there is a new design each year. (You can see the 2008 design here and the 2009 design here.)

Coffret D’Or will release its holiday 2009 collection in Japan on November 16th. The “LuxuLight Collection” palette features two variations. The Sweet Luxu palette features warmer shades such as pinks and warm neutrals for the eyes, while Cool Luxu includes blue-toned shades.

Both palettes have three eyeshadows, three lip colors and one lip gloss.

The Color Mixing Eyes series is part of Kanebo Coffret D’Or‘s summer 2009 collection. Today I am sharing my thoughts on 04 Lavender Purple Mix.

The four colors in this palette are:

Bottom left: sheer off-white with soft shimmer
Top left: moderately pigmented light cool lavender with a mildly sparkly finish
Top right: moderately pigmented light-to-medium purple with soft shimmer
Bottom right: pigmented dark plum-purple

All shades have multi-colored shimmer. They go on easily and have a decent staying power.

The interesting thing about Color Mixing Eyes is that the top two shades are designed to be mixed together for the eyelids, and the two shades in this palette do work well together. With two slightly different finishes (the cool lavender on the left is more sparkly), the two shades together are able to create a dimensional look and the overall color is a soft cool purple.

(According to the eye chart on the back of the outer packaging, the cool lavender is also used along the inner 1/3 of the lower lashline.)

Compared with the previous series of Coffret D’Or’s eyeshadow palettes, Color Mixing Eyes is sheerer than Trance Deep Eyes (fall 2008) and 3D Lighting Eyes (spring 2008, marginally the most pigmented among the four series) and is more or less as sheer as Shine Accent Eyes (spring 2009). Among the four, Trance Deep Eyes is still the most shimmery/sparkly.

The look that this palette creates is fresh, cool, and summery, mainly due to the cool-toned lavender. For me, the color from mixing the two purples is a little too cool for my liking. I have tried using the purple on the right on its own on my lids, and I think this look suits my slightly warm-toned complexion better.

Overall, this is a satisfying palette and I should be going back to it quite often. If you would like a light and cool look for the eyes for summer (instead of the warm bronze look), this palette will be a very good choice. Also, if the purples you usually go for are medium-to-cool ones, then this palette would also be quite ideal.

I have received Coffret D’Or’s Color Mixing Eyes in 04 Lavender-Purple Mix (for summer 2009) and both Lucent and High Cover of Lavshuca’s Finish Powder (for spring/summer 2009). I will start trying them out very soon and I will post the reviews later on!
