Launched in September, Burberry Body is the brand’s latest fragrances and one of the brand’s biggest product launches. It is positioned by Burberry as a brand launch, not just a fragrance launch. Burberry set out to craft a scent that encapsulates the essence and various facets of the world of Burberry and a scent that carries a sophisticated, classic, modern and iconic aura. The result is Burberry Body.

Burberry‘s Glow range features Light Glow (blushers, eight shades) and Warm Glow (bronzers, four shades). The shades generally look wearable and they are designed to enhance the complexion in a natural way. Today I am highlighting Light Glow in 04 Peony Blush.

Recently, quite a few major makeup brands have released sheer or semi-sheer ranges of lipsticks, from Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shine (see review here) and Dior’s revamped Dior Addict Lipstick to YSL’s Volupté Sheer Candy and Laura Mercier’s Gel Lip Colour. For spring/summer 2011, Burberry (see brand profile here) has released Lip Mist, also a range of semi-sheer lipsticks. Today I am highlighting 209 Feather Pink.

Burberry Beauty will release Lip Charm for the holiday 2010 season. It contains a nude-beige lip gloss, and the packaging, as with the line’s launch collection, is inspired by the iconic Burberry check.

Most of my favorite beauty brands (especially when it comes to makeup) are designer brands. Beauty lines from Chanel, Dior, YSL, Anna Sui, Jill Stuart and Paul & Joe are beautiful extensions of their respective fashion brands as well as credible makeup/skincare lines in their own right.
On July 12th, Burberry Beauty was launched in the UK, and it is currently available exclusively in Harrods. Even though I am not a Burberry person, the look of the products did catch my attention. A fashion brand’s beauty line can help convey the image of the brand to a wider audience, through the colors and packaging (among other things), and, after seeing the products in person, I think Burberry has done well in both aspects.

Some thoughts after the visit to Harrods and Selfridges a few days ago:
Paul & Joe
I tested some of the items from the fall 2010 Clair de Lune collection. The colors in the limited-edition Face & Eye Color CS palettes look as pretty as they do in the promotional images. However, even for me, many of the colors are too sheer. The three lighter shades in Paper Moon (the neutral palette) are mainly shimmer and don’t have much pigment.
Burberry Beauty
The line was launched on July 12th in Harrods, which is the line’s only retail point in the UK at the moment. All the powder-based items (powder foundations, blushers, bronzers, and eyeshadows) have a beautifully silky texture and a velvety matte finish. (None of the eyeshadows has visible shimmer.) I also like the classy packaging. (I will post a more detailed review of the line later on.)
SUQQU
One of the sales assistants confirmed that the fall 2010 collection would be launched in the UK in September. Since Powdery Cheeks is one of the products to be discontinued next month, I decided that it was time to pick up 11 Ashibi, which caught my eye during my first encounter with SUQQU in 2006 . I have a feeling that it will soon be among my favorite blushers. I also went for 14 Oshiroibana, which is more vibrant. Even though they will be discontinued soon, I am still planning to post my thoughts on them for those who are interested in this exquisite Japanese beauty brand.
