Like Elsia’s spring 2012 makeup collection (featured in Part 2), Aube Couture’s spring 2012 makeup collection impressed me when I saw it in person. The new Designing Impression Eyes series was launched in fall 2011, and there are three new variations for spring 2012. What I like about these three new palettes (and many of the fall 2011 ones) is that they combine low-key colors with high-toned shimmery finishes. This combination creates understated glamour, and these three palettes are still very wearable for daytime. (See the two limited-edition variations for summer 2012.)
The twelve shades of the new Excellent Stay Rouge feature some elegant low-key cool-toned shades, which appeal to me a lot.

Looking at all the pinks and peaches in Lunasol’s spring 2012 makeup collection, I feel as if I were looking at colors from Jill Stuart packaged in Lunasol cases. It is a very spring-like, coherent, and wearable collection, but I think it is a little too safe and that it lacks the flair and imagination that many of Lunasol’s past collections had. This is mainly why Lunasol is not among my top three collections this season.

With Kosé Cosme Decorte’s Magie Deco not releasing a collection for spring 2012, my attention is naturally moving towards one of Cosme Decorte’s other lines, AQ MW (Absolute Quality Marcel Wanders). The filigree patterns of the line’s debut makeup collection for spring 2012 run across the cases as well as some of the products themselves. Packaging-wise, I still prefer Magie Deco, but I certainly look forward to AQ MW’s seasonal releases in the future.

Chanel has released Ombres Matelassées (in 51 Montaigne) in the UK today. The limited-edition eyeshadow palette celebrates the re-opening of Chanel’s boutique on Avenue Montaigne, Paris.
The gold-toned palette is named after the boutique’s street address (51 Avenue Montaigne) and features shades of pear, pale gold, gold, golden khaki, and black.

Jo Malone‘s limited-edition London Blooms collection explores the spirits and expressive contrasts of the British garden. The collection features three scents: Peony & Moss, White Lilac & Rhubarb, and Iris & Lady Moore. Adorned with colorful botanical drawings, these decorative bottles are a first for Jo Malone. Today I am highlighting White Lilac & Rhubarb Cologne.

After purples for spring 2011 and blues for fall 2011 (as well as warm-toned and cool-toned neutrals, which have been taking turns to be on-trend in the last few seasons), we have green in its various hues for spring 2012.
Givenchy‘s spring 2012 Instant Bucolique makeup collection features a strong visual (above) and makes a statement with a fresh and spring-like minty green in Le Prisme Eyes Quartet in 79 Bucolic Blossoms. A very similar shade is seen in Venis Please in 178 Bucolic Lily.

I had a chance to see Dior‘s Diorsnow Icy Halos Collection in person. The shades are generally soft and airy. The darkest shade of the entire collection is the medium silvery gray in the 5 Couleurs Iridescent palette, which is far from overly intense. The finishes of the eyeshadow shades are (pleasantly) not too frosty.
