2008 Holiday

Lavshuca will release Stick Eyeshadows on November 1st in Japan. Eight shades will be available.

They are mostly various tones of neutrals, plus a pastel pink and blue and quite a striking violet.

Their main appeals are the ease of use and the dual function. Apart from being eyeshadows, they can double as eyeliners.

Last year, Lavshuca released a cute lip and eye palette for the holiday season. I am hoping there will be more to come from Lavshuca later on!

Riding on the success of Gel Eyeliners, Kate will release Gel Eyeshadows on November 1st in Japan.

Eight shades are available, with two different finishes among them. The pastels have a translucent feel, while the three darker shades are more pigmented. All shades have shimmer.

It might have already occurred to you that they seem similar to Coffret D’Or’s July release, Fluffy Shiny Eyes. Both Kate and Coffret D’Or are Kanebo lines, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a similar texture and finish. But notice that Kate’s lineup features the three darker colors not available in Fluffy Shiny Eyes.

As the weather is cooling down for autumn, we will start to hear about all the holiday collections.

Prescriptives will once again bring out two versions of Colorscope Refillable Palettes for Eyes and Cheeks, one in Warm and one in Cool (pictured above). (See my review of the 2007 version here.)

Each palette includes:

– six (full-size) Colorscope Eye Colors
– two (full-size) Colorscope Cheek Colors
– Double-Ended Color & Contour Brush
– refillable compact

All the full-size slots give you the flexibility of customizing your own palette with other Colorscope Eye and Cheek Colors.

The two palettes and the rest of the Prescriptives Holiday Gift Set Collection will be available in the UK from October 13.

(Kanebo Sensai Premier The Body Cream)
(image from www.nikkei.co.jp)

Kanebo has been marketing Sensai as a “Super-Prestige” brand. As part of the plan to expand Kanebo’s western market and to probe the luxury bodycare niche in the west, Sensai will debut the Sensai Premier range on September 1 by releasing Sensai Premier The Body Cream.

The product (200ml) will retail at 300 euros and will be available in Europe, Middle East, and the US (37 countries in total). This item will not be officially available in Japan.

It claims to feature 20 moisturizing ingredients that will help prevent signs of aging.

If you are a beauty trivia buff (as I am), you might be interested to know that Sensai debuted in London’s Harrods department store in 1979 and was introduced to France, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland a year later. It was launched in Saudi Arabia in 1997 and New York’s Bergdorf Goodman in 2000 (information from Nikkei Net).

(part of Chanel’s fall 2008 collection)
(image from www.wwd.com)

WWD has released information on Chanel‘s fall 2008 and holiday 2008 collections.

Chanel’s fall 2008 collection is Peter Philips’ first creation since he took over the role of Chanel’s creative director of makeup in January 2008 from Dominique Moncourtois and Heidi Morawetz.

Gold takes center stage in both collections, and part of the fall 2008 collection (out in July) includes:

– Gold Fiction nail polish
– Facettes D’Or (gold loose powder)
– Gold Light Glossimer lip gloss

Part of the Chanel Holiday 2008 collection (out in October) includes:

– Poudre Precieuse Or (gold highlighting powder)
– Gold Shine Glossimer lip gloss
– Haute Chocolate nail polish (brown gold nail color)

(The WDD article has more information on the two collections.)

I have to say that if I had got to know about these two collections a month ago, I would probably have had virtually no interest at the time. But, interestingly, I just got Dior‘s Golden Dior pendant yesterday. Also, perhaps slightly more relevantly, after weeks of going back and forth in my mind, I decided to get another Coffret D’Or 3D Lighting Eyes palette (in Gold Variation) earlier this month (which I adore).

(I will bring you the Golden Dior pendant tomorrow and the Coffret D’Or palette in a couple of weeks’ time. Do come back!)

Personally, the shades we see in the photo above are a little bit on the warm side for me, and they are not the shades I’d go for at the moment. (But it does remind me of my own Chanel Ombre D’Eau in Bay.) Nevertheless, I look forward to seeing the full lineups in July and October and having some good testing at the counter…
