THREE‘s Color Veil for Cheeks seems to be among the brand’s most popular makeup items, and I reviewed 11 Pink Dream a few months ago. The brand released Cheeky Chic Blush in spring 2016, and, as far as I know, Color Veil for Cheeks is being phased out at the moment. I was eager to try the new range, and I decided to go for 04 Gift from Time.
THREE Cheeky Chic Blush in 04 Gift from Time (THREE チーキーシークブラッシュ 04 Gift from Time/ THREE 蜜光修容 04 Gift from Time, ¥3000) is among the eight shades released in spring 2016. It is a medium-depth cool-toned rose-toned cherry pink with an above-medium pigmentation level. Its finish is between semi-matte and subtly glowy. (It has some fine, sparse and low-key shimmer that does not look obvious on the cheeks.) The powder is smooth and silky, and the staying power of the color is good. (I do need to layer the product fairly cautiously so that I don’t over-apply it.)
I generally prefer cool-toned blusher shades that are predominantly matte, and I have been particularly into brighter blusher shades recently. 04 Gift from Time is exactly the type of blusher I go for these days. It is cool-toned, fairly vibrant and not glowy or shimmery.
Also, even though 04 Gift from Time is quite rich and vibrant and it is fairly pigmented, it still manages to look translucent on the cheeks. This translucent quality also exists in Color Veil for Cheeks in 11 Pink Dream, which I reviewed earlier, but the fact that 04 Gift from Time is more pigmented and more vibrant makes its translucency even more impressive.
Overall, I like this blusher a lot. Despite its vibrancy, it looks feminine and grown-up rather than girlie, and it reflects THREE’s elegant and sophisticated aesthetics.
(There are some small differences between the packagings of Color Veil for Cheeks and Cheeky Chic Blush. One is that the case of the new Cheeky Chic Blush is in a darker shade of gray. Another is that the rim of the metal tray in Cheeky Chic Blush is black (as opposed to Color Veil for Cheeks’ silver rim), and this subtle adjustment makes the look of the interior of the product more coherent and seamless.)
